“Hilton by name but not by nature”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

The ferry that takes you across from canary wharf pier does not come often so if you miss it be prepared for a very very cold wait. Also the last ferry is at 23:50 - so you can't stay out late! it is very cold around there due to wide open space. the hotel is not what you would expect of a hilton - although the service was good i.e. polite and friendly, the hotel staff seemed a bit disorganised at the best of times with many people left lingering in the lobby and while the lobby looked nice the rooms were very disappointing. although clean, the bed was uncomfortable and the room was very very small - almost a glorified travelodge - i have stayed at better premier inns. note the breakfast costs £15 on check or £18 later - did not look worth it. Also the bar was very expensive considering there are many cheaper bars nearyby. we booked from lastminute.com secret hotels so don't be fooled into its 4* offer - you could find better - and we did. Would probably not stay again unless had to be in docklands area.

Room Tip: Don't expect fourth floor to necessarily have a good view especially if you're on the left s...

“Great week-end”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed at The Riverside Hotel in a superior double room. The room was perfectly acceptable with views of the river and city. The fabric of the room was a little tired but did not distract from the amazing city views at night. The staff were excellent and made the experience of staying there something special. We used all transport links during the weekend and they worked marvellously. One hiccup when we came to use the ferry for transport across the river during Saturday evening to find they were closed for a dinner break. Fortunately Khanesh the under manager was on hand to calm us down and provide complimentary transport. Please read the ferry timetable if you want to avoid such situations arising.

Room Tip: Ask for a city view room to see the lights at night

“Nice staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Small sized room, dark furniture and a tiny window that was frosted over. Felt like a cabin on a boat. Friendly staff though and the ferry shuttle to Canary wharf worked well. The bus from Canada Water (C10) was absolutely packed and took about 10 minutes. I would not recommend the bus if traveling with significant luggage. Hotel seemed clean and the breakfast buffet was fine.

“Not up to our expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I booked this hotel through lastminute.com as my husband and I were coming to London and thought we would stay. It was his birthday and I thought a 4* would be a real treat as we normal just stay in Premier Inns and we'd stayed in a Hilton Gardens in Florida which was lovely. It took a while to be served at the front desk, there was only one person checking in guests and a few others milling around. The first room, the springs were totally shot on one side of the bed so we were moved. Our second room had a balcony, but over a car park but that wasn't an issue. I was suprised how small the rooms were with tiny bathrooms. The bed was a double with uncomfortable matresses, we didn't sleep well at all which did mean we were up early enough to use the pool before we had to go home. The pool/sauna were nice but I think they were a seperate health club that the hotel could use, I'm not sure but there were posters advertising membership. The room etc was clean enough but wasn't the special 4* treat I was hoping for. Might stick to Premier Inns in the future for a quater of the price

“This is not what we expected from a Hilton Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We knew that the Hilton was not in a central location which we thought would be OK for our needs and it was as there was a MIni bus to take guests to and from the Tube station.
What we did not expect was the poor quality of the hotel and the cleanliness. We expected it to be up to the usual Hilton standard, and we were bitterly disappointed. Our room was a good size but it was grubby, it needed a paint and a good clean.
The hallway leading to the rooms was really dirty, the carpets were old and needed to be replaced, the walls were dirty and it was just not very pleasant.
The staff did not have local knowledge of the area and could not direct us to anywhere to eat in walking distance although the next day we passed several pubs that obviously served food.
We were really really let down!
