“Spacious, affordable option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I travelled to London for a quick business trip and was looking for a hotel within easy walking distance of my office. The Rathbone was a great, affordable option in a very expensive town. The rooms were large, quiet and quite comfortable, and the staff was friendly. The front desk even assisted me in buying tickets for a hop-on hop-off bus tour and in booking a cab from the hotel to Heathrow, which was much less expensive than the black metered cab I'd taken into the city when I arrived.

The lobby bar was also a great option for a low-key evening with nice service. They even have all the day's papers available for guests to read in the lobby. If the hotel is too quiet for your taste, there are numerous restaurants and bars in the surrounding streets.

Thank you for taking your time to write your review. Guest’s feedback is very valuable to us at the Rathbone Hotel and we were very happy to read that you enjoyed your recent stay with us. We offer- the perfect location for both business and leisure guests, situated on the corner of Rathbone Street and Charlotte Street, surrounded by some of London’s most vibrant restaurants along with Soho and Oxford Street within five minutes walking distance, it is ideal and you are spoilt for choice for things to do or something new to try in this area. I am delighted that you took the opportunity to see our wonderful city and experience some of London’s historical landmarks with the Bus Tour and that you were able to relax in our lounge bar after a long day. I hope to welcome you back soon.

“Excellent hotel ideal for an overnight stay when going to the west end”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We stayed here in December and had the most gorgeous suite. The bar is a lovely oasis to return to, in order to avoid the crowds in the bars close to the theatre. Service was good but what really sold the place was the standard of the room. Will definitely return.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior room

“Rathbone Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I've just recently stayed for the first time at the Rathbone Hotel as well as the first time visiting London. The room was very accommodating, clean and crisp. Excellent service, fast check in and fast check out. Per England's staple, complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits each morning in your room. Very quiet, check out at noon, unlike some hotels the check out is at 10:00 am. Complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby as well.

“Incomprehensive missings for a 4*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

We stayed in an executive room which was spacious for being London and in general correct.
The only big and incomprehensive mistake was the heating system. Considering it is a cold place in the winter is completely unacceptable to have a heating a/c which doesn't heat at all, because it is more useful for the summer as a cooler. Mainly because it is intalled high on the ceiling and hot air tends to go up, so the room never got hot enough during the night, as it was also noisy, so we had to turn it off. This was more of a major problem as we were carrying a baby with us and they couldn't even provide us with a proper blanket for these cold conditions.
Another very bad thing was the bed. I think it is one of the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept. It was a twin bed with a weird hard block in the middle and a lot of hard things in the matress. Considering it a 4* and executive room, I would have expected something at least normal.
The service was excellent and everyone very kind.
The hotel is well located, near to a lot of places to eat.
There is a pub downstairs that can be a bit noisy, but only until they close, which is fine.
I wouldn't stay again and I wouldn't recommend it, unless you accept all these inconvenients. Good service is not everything.

We were very sorry to read your comments and assure you that guest satisfaction is a priority for us. It is highly disappointing to read anything less than achieving excellence. We have since completed works on replacing our entire air-conditioning system and I believe the room which you occupied was one of our more recent completions. Our new system is regularly commended, highlighting effective heating and cooling in all of our rooms along with its ease of operating. It is also disappointing to read that you found the bed uncomfortable as we continually receive praise and positive feedback from our guests whereupon, we are quite accustomed to their request for details of our mattress supplier and I am sorry to read otherwise. Thank you for your kind comments regarding our service and location, I hope that you will reconsider your decision to visit us again in which event I would welcome you to contact me direct where I will personally look after your reservation.
