“Upgrade to a Premier Inn....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed on 11th Feb 2012 for 1 night only.. When we pulled up outside, all for of us were happy. we had pre paid £145 for 1 night including breakfast. we were given a room on the 4th floor, when we walked in, we thought small, but alright. Then our children sat on the sofa bed & felt the springs! We called downstairs to ask if we could move rooms, the man we spoke to was lovely & upgraded us to a suite... 202. The suite was so much bigger. The sofa beds still hard & springs still there, we didnt think there was any point now in complaining.
We then enjoyed London- & came back several hours later. As we were on the 2nd floor all we could hear was the street noise, really badly. We ordered a movie, as we couldnt sleep, only to be told that the volume couldnt go up on the movies bought??? so we couldnt even hear it!
The noise outside didnt stop till well after 3am! & it was 5am that i heard the last people!
Then at 7am the work men start!!! I did complain we went went down for breakfast & all the girl said was, OK! Then spoke with the duty manager & he said, Sorry.
The hotel is a 3.5 star. Clean & ok for a night stay if you dont mind not sleeping! I am sure the other side of the hotel would be better away from the noise..
on a good note, its location is great, right next to the tube & the river & of course the Tower Of London.... & breakfast was good.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to feedback and share your experiences on Tripadvisor. I have noted your comments regarding the sofa bed and the sound quality from the movies and have instructed my relevant deparmental heads to ensure these are rectified. We do operate a 24 hour reception who are available to assist and equiped to ensure all our guests receive a good nights rest especially where external noise is concerned. I would like to highlight that the building work starts from 9am midweek and 10am on weekends, with the workers only entering the building 30 minutes before works can commence. However I was disappointed to read about the reactions of my staff especially the duty manager and for this I am sincerely sorry. I am very happy that you have decided to return to us, to give us another opportunity to redeem ourselves and I look forward to welcoming you and your family back. Kindest regards, Dominic Sauls, Operations Manager

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Just spent a weekend at this hotel in a family room. Good value and great location.
A couple of minor problems with the room but were quickly dealt with. Very close to tube but check at weekends to make sure not closed for repairs.

“Excellent contemporary hotel; good location”

Very close to Tower Hill Tube Station; close to Fenchurch St Station; Close by Tower Bridge/ Tower of London/ St Katherina Dock (which is absolutely worth a visit!) This is a Novotel "new generation". I stayed several times in this hotel; very friendly staff, lovely English breakfast buffet; modern, clean room. Had a delicious dinner at their restaurant ! I'd definitely go there again !

“Comfortable & Functional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed here for one night in early February 2012 having made the booking via the Novotel web site for a standard room at just over £100.00.
I found this location extremely easy to drive to and my stay was made all the more enjoyable because car parking close by in the Minories Car Park E1 8LP was only £2.00 (two pounds) for all night, that being the Saturday night rate.
Getting back to the hotel, check in was prompt, efficient and hassle free, although the receptionist did ask for my companions christian name during registration!
The room quite small although well equiped with modern TV, tea & coffee making facilities, ironing board & iron, plenty of soap & shampoo, key coded safety box, watering can type shower and most importantly a comfortable bed with 4 pillows.
My stay was only brief and although WIFI was not required, I noticed the signal was strong.

Before setting off for our evening on the town, we also sampled some of the bar snacks which were truly excellent.

Would I choose to stay here again, if I was driving into London for a Saturday night out then yes I probably would.
