“Average - get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Friendly enough greeting from from desk.Allocated room 108 (i think). The room was in the basement area and although reasonably spacious we were below ground level and the window appeared to be covered from the outside, maybe by building work.We felt quite claustraphopic and asked whether they had any other twin rooms, they said that they didn't but had a queen bedroom that we could have at no extra cost.Allocated room 315 - very small and with a very small double. All newly decorated and clean though with OK bathroom. The main problem was the draught from the window. It was minus 6 C outside and for the first time ever I had to wear a T shirt in bed.Tip;if you are unfortunate to get this room make sure that you get the side of the bed away from the window. Some traffic noise and humm from heater/aircon? unit outside.
Breakfast wasn't perfect.Given a table i noted that the butter had already been half eaten, the milk had been drunk too. I also had to swap the sugar container as it was smimming with water/tea and the sugar had partially dissolved.I also didn't like the fact that there were 2 loaves of bread, i breadknife and 1 paper bag.I don't mind sharing with family or friends but this did seem rather unhygienic.
All staff especially the cleaners were really friendly.Nice area too, close to Tube station, museums and Albert hall + bars/restaurants etc.

Dear TKPUNK

I appreciate you taking the time to give the hotel some feedback about your stay, but am obviously disappointed with the problems you encountered.

As you noted, the exterior of the hotel is currently being renovated, and this will be the final piece in our full refurbishment programme which commenced in 2011.
I am pleased that our staff were able to offer you an alternative room to move to when you were unhappy with your lower ground floor room. Our lower ground floor rooms are some of the most spacious rooms in the hotel, and some guests do prefer the extra space that they provide.
I am currently following up with our maintenance team in relation to the draught that was coming through the window of your new room (315) and will have them fix accordingly.

I have addressed the issues you raised about breakfast with our Food & Beverage Manager and can assure you that this is not the standard that we set and I am most disappointed.

I am however pleased that you found our staff friendly and I do hope we will be able to welcome you back at some point in the future.

Best regards

“Kensington/Albert Hall ... PERFECTION !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Having to travel to London on my own for business, always a bit of a nightmare, and I've often just taken the easy route of travel lodging it ... thinking well it's only a bed after all....
WELL let me tell you ... THIS place is a real gem!
There was nothing I could fault it on... the decor, the food, the price, the quality of everything was simply top notch!
I had a single room (which was a queen size bed so didn't feel like it) a TV as big as our living room one! The sheets were crisp and top quality Egyptain deliciousness....
The staff couldn't do enough for my every whim and I would recommend and definatley return.

Room Tip: If youre on your own the fiver I spent extra to get a slightly better room was worth it (£5 giggle)

“Excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Wonderful location very near Gloucester Road tube and the Kensington museums. The room and ensuite was very modern and comfortable with high quality fittings. It was smallish, but adequate. Service and breakfast good. The foyer and bar were welcoming and attractive - our only gripe was that the bar closed without warning at 11pm on a Saturday. We had a very fair price for all this and it was excellent value.

Dear AOBristol

On behalf of the team at Rydges Kensington London, I would like to thank you for taking the time to post a review about your stay.

It was a pleasure to read that you had an enjoyable time and both the service and surroundings met your expectations.

I appreciate your comment also in relation to the bar closing at 11pm. Unfortunately, due to local Council policies, we are restricted on the hours during which the hotel bar can be open. However, this should have been communicated correctly to you. I will ensure that your comment is addressed with the Food & Beverage Manager to ensure a similar situation does not occur in the future.

I hope we will be able to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.

Best regards

“Staff Need Basic Training”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

While the rooms were new and filled with the latest equipment, the staff lacked common sense !. The doorman watched my daughter struggle with her suitcase up the stairs from the cab to reception. A great welcome. He was just useless on our departure equally unhelp. Point 2. The desk clerk booked/alloted my daughter and I into a single bed room. Now where I come from this is not the normal father daughter sleeping arrangement. Upon my immediate call to reception, I was challenged that my booking for a single- wrong again! The problem was fixed....and a suitable room allocated. Staff training required. Resturant breakfast was nice and a great Indian Resturant located just 50m down the road towards the tube station.

If staying for a short time and you like walking, catch a cab to Piccadilly Circus and walk back to the hotel it's a great way of seeing a lot of great shops including Harrods.

Dear XJM 911,
Thank you for taking the time to place a review on Trip Advisor.
I am pleased that you enjoyed our breakfast in The Jam Cupboard and found plenty on offer in our immediate area. I am however disappointed to read that our staff have not met your expectation. It is clear that further training is required to ensure our reception staff are familiar with the new room types available so to prevent a situation like this occurring again. Thank you once again XJM911 for bringing this to my attention.

“Great Location”

I booked a Premier suite for my 2 daughters and I in November. As our flight was arriving early into London on the Monday morning I booked from the night before, so we could have immediate access to our room. I emailed the Reservation Manager, a week or so before we left Australia to ensure there were no hiccups upon arrival. Upon arrival all had been organised, including a quick checkin, help with the suitcases and a smiley greeting and the sofa bed in the lounge room made up. The Hotel has been recently refurbished and everything was clean and fresh. It is difficult to book a room/suite suitable for 3 adults and I found Rydges excellent value. As with a lot of hotels in the Uk/Europe, even with a suite general space is limited, but for 3 adults it was fine, the bathroom large, with a walk in shower and bath. My daughters loved the toiletries! Housekeeping was excellent, the room was always made up beautifully when we arrived back at the end of the day. Located in Gloucester Road just a stone's throw from the tube and good eateries and a Tesco, it's hard to beat.

Room Tip: If I had been travelling with my husband I would have been very happy with the Premier Suite, as it...
