“Top Pick for convenient location & basic amenities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I stayed here for a few days based on recommendations from a few friends.

Upon arrival & after check-in, the first thing I noticed was the small elevator. Seriously, it is very, very small. You'll be lucky to fit 1 person with 1 big luggage. 2 persons is practically impossible.

Secondly, the rooms are very simple, very basic. They are, essentially, a spacious closet.

The only redeeming quality for the hotel if you are looking for plenty of halal food, & closest to the Bayswater station (it is really, really close, just behind the hotel about 25 steps away) & quick 5 mins ride to Oxford St, Bond St, Marble Arch, etc. with 2 supermarkets, a town car service nearby, a convenience store, & a small shopping mall, it is supremely worth it.

I would pick this hotel just for the location & the convenient access to basic amenities nearby.

The hotel is good enough to lay your bed for the night. :)

Room Tip: Top floor has a nice view of the rooftops, very Mary Poppins! :)

“Slecht in veel opzichten. Zelfs na de klacht bij het hoofdkantoor te hebben gedeponeerd geen reactie.”

I did stay (2 pax) at Berjaya in London but am absolute disapppointed about the service this London hotel provides: when not being claustofobic you will get it in the elevator and upstairs; room was not clean, we stayed at 307 after a chance from the top floor where it was stinking and an empty bottle under the bed and a left-over from shopping clothes; not even a hook or two for wet clothes in the room behind doors or on the wall;
food was very bad and not fresh, so we sended it back twice. Even our tomato salad was taken away without finishing it. The waiter said not to have any complains, ofcourse.. the restaurant was empty;
- the bed moves away from the wall because it has rollers;
- room upstairs: you hear them walk;
;the bath tube is leaking from the bottom so it swims into the bathroom;
;the summun is to ask a depot for every bag to deposit in the hotel for a few hours after checking out before you get them again to catch the plane;
the receptionist could NOT telephone/order a black cab for us!
He told us he would telephone another they work with!! My goodness, this was a family car (no taxi!) who did not even know where our location was to take us (OXO), no knowledge!! And he did not have any change of just two pounds, he would leave it in an enveloppe at the receptiondesk of the hotel.

“Small hotel very close to underground stations. Expensive Internet access.”

Small and pretty out dated rooms, but ok. The beds were comfortable enough. Extremely narrow bathroom. The reception area was much more aesthetically pleasing than the rest of the hotel. Good value for money. (Ordered through hotels.com). The underground stations Bayswater and Queensway are in the neighbourhood, which is great. No internet, unless you buy a voucher in the reception. This was expensive (approx 6 UK pounds for 60 minutes).

Room Tip: There's a big difference between room sizes. We were at first placed in a tiny room in the basem...

“I keep staying here so it can't be bad!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I stay for business in London hotels every week. Since I stayed here for the first time I have come back every week. Prime reasons are that it is really close to the tube and is a hotel with character. The hotel has a quirky layout and many of the rooms are hard to get too by lift, but I don't think that's a problem. The bar and dining room are fine and the staff in both helpful and customer focused. Reception always seem pleasant. I have never had a small room as others describe and would describe the rooms as large compared to many central London offerings.

Downside is that radiators on cold nights don't work well and rooms don't have irons. However there are safes for storage of valuables and staff quickly deliver irons.

One plea to the hotel - please provide free wifi! This is a significant failing if you want wel connected customers.

I am happy to recommend this hotel

Room Tip: I always have a double or twin so ask for these

“Fine for price but dont expect luxury”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

The staff were friendly and the lobby was very smart looking. The hotel is not too far from central London and is only a short walk from shoreditch market.

My room was very cold on entry and the curtains hung in front of the radiator meaning they blocked most of the heat. The bathroom was FREEZING, there was no heating so i had to leave the bathroom door open to allow the heat from the room to warm it. The bed was comfy and i would have had a great nights sleep if it wasnt for the people coming back late and waking me, the people above my room stamping and waking me and the two doors near my room banging when people when through them!!

The bathroom was very small (so small the loo handle had been fitted backwards so rather than projecting out to the right it projected out to the left - otherwise it would have hit the wall) The shower was again tiny and the water pressure very poor.

For one night the room was fine but i wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay.
