Great location, 2 mins from Tube station and lovely local shops, restaurants and bars. Good reception, and got an upgrade to an executive room. The room was clean and modern, but tiny! Only 2 of us in it and we had to manoeuvre past each other to move around. Goodness only knows how small the basic rooms must be! What really let the hotel down was the breakfast experience. We arrived down for breakfast and were met by a queue of 32 guests waiting to get in. It was clear to see why: the self service breakfast buffet was tiny and cramped, and invited a 'crush' of guests, again queuing in long lines and all getting in each others' way. It was really chaotic, and getting a bowl of cornflakes felt like a bit of a battle. The staff didn't help with easing the queues, which they could have done, for example by triaging and getting separate queues for different things, rather than by having one big crowd. Also, plates and glasses ran out, so people had to hang around, thus making the crush even greater. We were surprised that experienced hoteliers hadn't worked out a system for this basic process. They are undergoing a refurbishment at present - we hope it brings bigger bedrooms and a much more sensible breakfast arrangement!
