“Smallest double room ever!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

The undergoing major refurbishment didn't really interfere with our 2 night stay, but having booked 10 weeks in advance it didn't account for us having a double room only 6 foot wide, I had to shuffle sideways past the end of the bed! I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it, there are plenty of others in the nice neighbourhood. The swimming pool had just become out of action on the day we arrived and we requested that we be offered something to make up for this disappointment, (eg free breakfast?) but no they just didn't care.

Room Tip: Dont stay there!

“Should not be classed as a 4 star hotel. In my opinion 3 at best.”

I stayed this week in the Kensington close hotel. Check in was extremely slow with only 3 people working and 9 waiting to be served.
The first thing that struck me after check in is the level of construction / renovation works taking place in the hotel. Due to these works I was told that I could have free Wifi (only available in the foyer), free use of the pool and gym (pool was empty due to works), free unlimited movies ( out of service due to upgrade works)!!
My room was quite small but very clean, the bed was only 6 inches from the wall at its base which made walking around it quite difficult. The bathroom door was a sliding door that was broken (good job I was on my own) so I had to leave it in the open position all the time. Air con in the room worked when it wanted to which meant the room was cold a lot of the time.

I wouldn't stay here again until all upgrade works were complete.

“Chaotic breakfast.”

Great location, 2 mins from Tube station and lovely local shops, restaurants and bars. Good reception, and got an upgrade to an executive room. The room was clean and modern, but tiny! Only 2 of us in it and we had to manoeuvre past each other to move around. Goodness only knows how small the basic rooms must be! What really let the hotel down was the breakfast experience. We arrived down for breakfast and were met by a queue of 32 guests waiting to get in. It was clear to see why: the self service breakfast buffet was tiny and cramped, and invited a 'crush' of guests, again queuing in long lines and all getting in each others' way. It was really chaotic, and getting a bowl of cornflakes felt like a bit of a battle. The staff didn't help with easing the queues, which they could have done, for example by triaging and getting separate queues for different things, rather than by having one big crowd. Also, plates and glasses ran out, so people had to hang around, thus making the crush even greater. We were surprised that experienced hoteliers hadn't worked out a system for this basic process. They are undergoing a refurbishment at present - we hope it brings bigger bedrooms and a much more sensible breakfast arrangement!

“Don't stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Our company insist on putting us in this hotel despite our many complaints. The staff are unhelpful, the door cards often don't work and sometimes we have had to return to reception several times (long trip from some of the rooms) to get new cards. The rooms are small (not unusual for London) and often freezing cold. The breakfast is a scrum when it is busy which is nearly always all the time (dont know why) and I loathe the bar area which is soulless and cold. Drinks are ridiculously expensive, we never eat here as there are good restaurants nearby. I would never recommend this to anyone, it has become a penance for us and I look forward to the day our company stop putting us there. I would rather stay in a b&b , you would get better value for money. Last time we stayed there was scaffolding all around and loads of noise and dust from renovations going on while the hotel is open. This is just greed, they should have closed it down to refurbish it. There were workmen passing by our windows and using loud machinery right outside our rooms. I could go on and on, I hate this place.

Room Tip: Just don't
