I got to the hotel using the Tube and went down on Hyde Park Corner station. Do it if you travel light as there is a 5 minutes walk with quite lot of stairs. Bellman and receptionist were quite welcoming. They even accommodated an early check in. You will notice the building is quite old, lobby is rather small and outdated.
I got to my upgraded executive room and it was rather small. Overlooking to Hyde Park. I called the reception to request a room change and I got Ara on the phone. Avoid talking to her, she will make every attempt to persuade you are wrong on requesting a room change. Eventually who made all happen was Sean, the porter who's been with the hotel for 28 years and knows his way around.
I got a nice suite with a beautiful view of the London eye, Buckingham Palace, etc. that is the view you want to request. Now, if I was not a Diamond member, I don't think I would have had any negotiation leverage.
Executive room is very well appointed, moots of good food and great service. I had the 3 o'clock tea and it's a full meal. Went to get some water around 8pm and saw they were offering lots of food and liquor.
My rate was around £240 and I wouldn't pay more. In terms of location, it didn't seem to have too much around the hotel, except for Nobu, that is right on the corner.
Room Tip: High floor overlooking the London eye
