“Something missing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

When you book a Hilton , you have certain standard expectations and in this hotel , they haven't been fullfilled.
The staff is really nice and caring, this has to be said. But the overall is a little bit shabby. Rooms are tiny, the forniture are quite 'essential' , no space for personal items in the bathroom.
Position is ok, considering that the subway is really nearby.
The big bluff is the price . Yes, the room rate was just 139 GBP, but then they requested 14 GBP for breakfast and other 15 GBP for 24h wi-fi internet. A little bit pricy for this hotel category.

“Well worth the fee charged for super weekend stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Big Tip plan in advance as the title will prove.
Weekend mapped out before us we arrived hectically from the tube as typical some lines malfunction, but post 1pm wanting to freshen from rail before Westend show at 3.
Room not quite ready, but given the option of leaving luggage to be room placed for our later return. Return after the show, with much less than hour to prepare for our reserved evening meal. As promised room prepared with our luggage waiting, floor five – good view if you don’t look below the horizontal to the eye – otherwise roof top extractors are the noisy fascination.
But we’re only here to pass the nights, and the large bed and room amenities are perfect. Though shower head could do with descaling.
Changed and ready to the Perfect Taxi requesting service and off to Texture(ab fab) with minutes to spare. For such a large hotel the reception continually quiet with surprisingly few milling around.
Breakfasts very good, order your fried egg as your seated.
Day two planned with guided walk (beatles mystery ) and afternoon at the tate and quick Sunday call to St Pauls. More time on return to soak away the day and prepare for reservation at Sofra just down the street.
Checking out is a most satisfying along with holding luggage until our afternoon departure. Planned this visit last year, and happily exchanged our Tesco vouchers for these 2 nights, making it free of charge. We’ll definitely be planning out another similar weekend using the same overnight payment scheme, and readily stay here again. Recommend it to all.

Room Tip: higher than 5 the better

“nice place, disappointing service”

came to stay here late september 2011, as i had a job interview quite nearby (did not get it though!). convenient location. came across one unhelpful + impolite female reception staff member, which kind of soured the overall experience somewhat. but other than that it was alright. probably would look for cheaper-rate alternatives for my personal needs.

“Excellent....if you're Diamond”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I got to the hotel using the Tube and went down on Hyde Park Corner station. Do it if you travel light as there is a 5 minutes walk with quite lot of stairs. Bellman and receptionist were quite welcoming. They even accommodated an early check in. You will notice the building is quite old, lobby is rather small and outdated.

I got to my upgraded executive room and it was rather small. Overlooking to Hyde Park. I called the reception to request a room change and I got Ara on the phone. Avoid talking to her, she will make every attempt to persuade you are wrong on requesting a room change. Eventually who made all happen was Sean, the porter who's been with the hotel for 28 years and knows his way around.

I got a nice suite with a beautiful view of the London eye, Buckingham Palace, etc. that is the view you want to request. Now, if I was not a Diamond member, I don't think I would have had any negotiation leverage.

Executive room is very well appointed, moots of good food and great service. I had the 3 o'clock tea and it's a full meal. Went to get some water around 8pm and saw they were offering lots of food and liquor.

My rate was around £240 and I wouldn't pay more. In terms of location, it didn't seem to have too much around the hotel, except for Nobu, that is right on the corner.

Room Tip: High floor overlooking the London eye

“Some pluses but mainly lows”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012 via mobile

I really don't like writing bad reviews so let's start with the positives ... The hotel is in an amazing location and you can easily walk to the west end or nod street and sloane square. It is very well equipped and the service at reception when I arrived great. The rooms are nice but just standard nothing amazing .... Though you cannot fault the views which ever way you are facing the views over London are wonderful....
Now for the not so good bits ... This hotel is not cheap and I had paid in advance ... When I checked in handed over my credit card to have items checked against not the card I originally paid in full for the room with .... When I checked out found out they had already debited my bank account t for the bill spent in the hotel from the originally card I booked with not the one I used at check in .. Then proceeded to take the money again at check out ... The one they took at midnight on the day before check out was debited back but not till about three days later ... And really annoyed that they took it from a card I had not authorised them to....
Would not mind if the bill was small but beware if you are drinking here it won't be small... Two single spirits and a mixer £27 ... And then when we asked to take our drinks up to our room we where told in no uncertain terms to do so they would have to be poured into paper cups .... They are the most expensive drinks I have ever had from a paper cup.... This is a five star hotel and to be asked to drink you drinks out of a paper coffee cup is not acceptable.
Okay enough of the moaning to end on a positive Gavin's windows on the top floor of the hotel is amazing ... Food is fantastic and the views cannot be beaten ....
Have stayed here twice now don't think there will be a third time especially as there are so many other nice options on Park Lane
