We stayed at the Lancaster Gate as part of a Superbreak package (and this was, in our opinion, excellent value for money). The hotel is close enough to the tube station to make a walk with cases quite straightforward. The outside of the hotel is quite impressive, so the inside of the hotel which is obviously being upgraded is currently a little disappointing. We rejected the first room on offer as it was too close to the lifts, and the noise from the doors, and the announcements could be heard from inside the bedroom. After quite specifically asking for a quiet room the second option was much better. It was a shame that our neighbours couldn't understand the No Smoking notices! I'm not sure that I would describe our room as "spacious", but it was perfectly adequate, and the bed was very comfortable.
We had breakfast every morning, and the staff in the dining room were efficient and helpful. Drinks are brought to the table, and will be refreshed if you need more. The food was standard fare, you could eat as much as you wished and we never felt rushed to eat up and move on.
We had a small problem when a personal item was mistakenly removed from our room during our stay. The operations manager on duty, Danika, dealt superbly with the issue and I commend her on her customer service. She even phoned me at home on her day off to let me know how she was going to resolve the matter, and how the missing item was replaced. When problems arise like this the positive attitude of a member of staff can make such a difference.
I would certainly return to this well positioned hotel and I would recommend it to you.
