My passport is expiring and I needed to go to my embassy in London to sort out a renewal. I have some holidays left and decided to take my wife with me and treat her to a five star hotel. Of course while I am working on my passport I needed to keep my wife occupied, so I made sure there is a leisure centre in the hotel and a spa for her treatments to keep her happy. The Four Season Hotel did exactly that...kept my wife happy.
First, the welcome reception at the desk was spot on. Nikki the receptionist is excellent with her job and the best up-seller that I encountered on frontline. Beware of her selling technics as she will sell you the most expensive room she got and she is very charming so she almost had me buying more than what I needed.
The room we booked for is a standard room with a king size bed. But from my experience the room was more than a standard, it is very special and my wife loved it. She said, it reminded her of the delux hotels we went for in the Philippines, the only thing missing is the jacuzi on the balcony.
We had our meals in the hotel. Breakfast was the best I ever had, Egle recommended the eggs benedict and I was so happy with her recommendation. Egle is so professional, pleasant and looking realy smart - five star service. Breakfast cost us around £60.00 but I did not mind because the experience was worth more than that. Lunch was equally fantastic, of course serve by Egle again. My wife and I had soup and pasta, cost us about £80.00 with drinks, again it was very good food and the best service. Dinner was a different issue. Food was good but the service went down hill because of Fabio's rude remark to me. He said;" I can see you did not eat the bones". It was very unprofessional. Luckily Daniel took over the service and somehow made me calm down and tried to enjoy the remaining dinner experience. I was disappointed because after a very good service from Egle here came Fabio who served us like an untrained, uneducated person. He should retain and polish his social skills. Not the kind of staff I would expect from Four Season Hotel.
OK, dinning experience was excellent except for the Fabio issue. Now, let us discuss transport. The Four Season is far off on my view from the city activity centres. We had to take taxi all the time to go out which cost us around £25 to £30. We were considering to take the tube as from our experience in London it is the fastest way of transport because it is going to skip all the traffic, but to our disappointment no underground station near in site.
I am not going to leave out the leisure and spa treatments which my wife enjoyed so much. The Four Season is affiliated with the Virgin Active leisure centre and it is the best we have ever seen. The Hydro therapy pools (there are three) are the best. My wife stayed in them for two hours. The pool is huge and inhoused in glass walls overlooking the Thames river - fantastic view. The leisure centre itself is enough reason to book the four season hotel on your visit. To top up this fantastic leisure experience we had a couples treatment massage and my wife said it is heaven. Good job Georgina from Spa!
All in all the trip was very good. Sorted out my passport and my wife wanted to go back to Four Season. The only one thing to do now is to save up again for this trip...best experience and we will do it again even if it will cost us. Well worth it.
Room Tip: Speak to Nikki at reception, she will enumerate what is on offer.
