“Better off with a Travelodge instead!”

I stayed for one night and arrived at 10pm to a very rude and unhelpful man on reception. After being given no indication about where to find my room or what floor it was on, 6 floors later I found my room. Disappointing is an massive understatement!

The bathroom was tiny, and the tap didn't work for the first 3 attempts, and when it did there were massive air locks constantly. Green bits of mold flaked off the tap when it was turned on.

Technically there was a lot crammed in the room, unfortunately I could reach everything provided from my bed as it touched the walls on 3 sides.

The steps were worn and potentially a falling hazard, further to this there was a large black cable running across the floor and under the bed which I couldn't unplug and kept falling over it.

I didn't have breakfast but on reading other reviews, this seemed a wise choice.

Recommend room 607 would serve better as a cupboard.

There are plenty of other hotels in the area, which if you look through a price comparison site, are no more expensive. Do not stay at Duke of Leinster Hotel!

This hotel supposedely has 4 stars, it most definatly does not have that in my eyes. Perhaps 2 stars or so.

Just before we traveled we red alot about the bed bugs in the hotel, horrified we tried to ignore the fact and just try to enjoy our trip. We traveled as a big family of 13 people and in one of the teenagers bedrooms they found 2 bedbugs. None in our room however. (We slept in a doublebed room just outside the reception (202 i think)). The cleaning was just sloppy, they made the bed and vacuumed the rug where it was visible. However we inspected the bed and it had lots of dirt and crap underneath it and even old juiceboxes were scattered behind a curtain that the cleaning staff obviously never bothered to check behind. The quality of the room was ok, it was a bit crowded but sufficient.

There is no bar or restaurant, just a small room in the cellar where they serve breakfast. It was good in the quality of the food (except the eggs which smelt .. well, not good.)

But there was almost nothing to choose from, if you want a big breakfast buffet, dont stay here!

It was a small crowded desk with only a few things, serisouly, you'd be better off eating at some establishment nearby instead.

All in all, i would never come back or recommend this hotel to anyone, the only thing i found good was that it was walking distance (if you enjoy walking) to the city and had nearby subway stations.

“Average Joe hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I didnt hate nor love this hotel. Firstly, it's a 2 star hotel. Not very neat, not very nice. The facade is beautiful, the rooms on the other hand are very simple and not kept. Things looked old and worn out, but the bed was nice and we got no bugs in ours as other guests report in some reviews here. We got room 202 on the ground floor, close to the reception and it was not as noisy as I thought it would be.
The hotel's location is quite ok, three blocks from the subway, some stores around, close to Hyde Park.
The worst was the breakfast. This is a huge part of the traveling experience for me and the breakfast was totally boring and plain. Juice, bread, coffee, milk and yoghurt. Exactly what you expect from a 2 star hotel, not a 4. Free good speed wi fi by the way.

“never stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This was the worst place I have ever stayed in! On arriving by myself the people in the room next door were having a massive fight, the screaming was horrific I thought someone was being murdered! Went straight down stairs and told reception, they just shrugged their shoulders and did nothing! I was speaking to another guest and they suggested it may have been the staff! Anyway, asked for some milk for a cup of tea at about 5.00pm, they said no and that the kitchen was closed.
The breakfast was horrid, the orange juice was watered down so much it didn't even taste like oranges. The matchbox size room was so hot and their was no air con, just a small fan the size of a dinner plate. The lights were not working when we arrived and had to wait for someone to come up and change the bulbs. All of this was so off putting, I would never recommend this place to anyone. It was nothing like the pictures I had seen of it and the staff were not friendly at all. The whole place was a complete rip off!

“Distinctly Average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

The hotel was billed as a four star but I really cannot see how. I stayed in a double room on the first night which was so small, the bed was pushed against the wall, and we couldn't open the wardrobe door fully due to its close proximity to the bed. We couldn't actually walk around the bed properly - we had to sidestep. The bed was also extremely uncomfortable - knackered mattress. The bedroom was behind the reception and there was no separating door, so it was extremely noisy. Breakfast was served in a poky basement room, awful service, not enough tables for all of the guests, we weren't offered any cooked breakfast. On the second night I stayed in a twin room which was a decent size but some bright spark had turned the radiator up to max and it couldn't be turned down, so it was like a sauna. We asked for breakfast to be delivered to the room and - I kid you not - it arrived on a small tray in a brown paper bag, with the milk in paper cups. Classy. The only good point were the friendly reception staff, but aside from them I really wouldn't recommend this hotel.
