“you get what you pay for and more”

I loved the decor and the splendour of the public rooms. The view whilst eating next to the dock is priceless. The breakfasts were what you needed before chasing around the capital, good full English or plenty of alternatives to try. Ok the rooms have seen better days, but I loved the chandelier and the double bed was fine and the view of canary wharf and the O2 was breathtaking. The noise of the DLR/ Tube was noticeable, but that was not through the night. Also two of the drawers had missing handles, but that meant only eight others to choose from, and to lose things in. The closeness of the underground and it's shops and restaurants was a very pleasant surprise. The check in process was swift and we were in our room before the advertised two o'clock. Yes the lifts were slow, but only around check out time in the mornings.
I normally stay around the Hyde Park area, but with the extra plus of great prices then the Britannia is very close to my best pick.

“My stay at the International Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I booked this Hotel through Laterooms and straight to the point - it was fabulous! The staff were really friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was really good, The lifts do take an age to arrive - so we took the stairs! This didn't affect us at all - a bit of exercise does you the world of good. And after the breakfast it was needed. Yes - it's seen better days and does look a bit shabby in places, but so what. I loved my stay here - although I do like my own mattress better than anyone elses.

Go, stay, enjoy!

Kie

“Fab location and lovely staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Lobby probably more impressive than the rooms, but as far as I am concerned a bed is a bed and as long as its clean it fine. Cant beat the location, so central, not really far to anything. Price was pretty amazing for central london and the breakfast was filling. Staff were so helpful and very friendly. Wish that the pool spa etc was included in price, didint like paying the £4 per day per person and then a further £1 per towel. SInce the overall price was so cheap this could have been added in and I still would have found it a bargain. Some outside noise can be heard, but a very comfortable clean friendly hotel in a great location- what else do you really want?

Room Tip: Get one overlooking dock if you can rather than road, as there was a whirring noise from hotel on t...

“Saturday night stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We booked a room at late notice on Late Rooms. We arrived on the Saturday and were given the wrong room. We had paid for an Executive Suite and when we reached our first room it was a standard twin. We had been involved in a head on car crash the evening before and some may say it was stupidity that had encouraged us to go, being black and blue, heavily brusied and uncomfortable but we wanted to make use of the jacuzzi with a bottle of MUSCLE SOAK! We called Reception who asked us to return downstairs with the key. My husband was a little disappointed to the tone, manner and unfriendliness of the receptionist who concluded the call with - Have you used anything in this room? He reply - we've had a cup of tea! We returned to reception where we gave the key back and with no apology were handed another key - the receptionist uttered - it's an executive premier. The room was as advertised but as tired as the previous but we did have the large bath to relax in.(Good, that's what we ordered and had paid for) Undeterred, we spent the rest of the afternoon in the jacuzzi and sleeping, and enjoying the views from the room which were amazing. We were in no state to go out for dinner so wanted to arrange room service. No menu in the room. Called and waited 30 mins for this to arrive, it did after another follow up call. We ordered food which was worth waiting for. Breakfast the next morning really let us down again - queued for 10 minutes to get into the breakfast room. No fresh tea/coffee, no cutlery...............We asked two different waitresses for assistance, they never returned. My husband ended up taking clean cutlery from tables which hadn't been used so we could eat! Very unorganised and this was demonstarted from the environment. We left taking 2 English Breakfast teabags and made tea in our room. Mmmmm......Not the best hotel by far- location is great though.

Room Tip: Executibve premier rooms have fantastic view of the Thames

Set in a wonderful location and with staff trained to discernably high standards, this hotel can be good value for money especially at weekends. Sure, it's seen better days, but who hasn't!
