“We were pleasantly surprised with the Diplomat Hotel.”

We arrived early in the morning at 6.30 am. The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. They stored our bags until our room was available later that day. They helped us organise a day tour using their internet. Our room on the top floor (triple share) was very large. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom quite adequate. The room was double glazed so although the street had some traffic the noise was not a problem. The location was great in a beautiful part of London with great cafes and a 10 minute walk to Victoria Station and Sloane Square Tube. The staff will call a cab for you if you don't want to walk. It is a heritage property so is older style with character. The full english breakfast was nicely prepared and served.

“Quirky hotel in good location”

I stayed here for two nights on separate occasions, as a woman alone l felt totally ok in this part of London The building in quirky with an old fashioned lift and a domed ceiling. The decore is a little shabby but the rooms are comfortable and l am a smoker and moved to a smoking room, The staff are lovely and helpfull ( I had lost my mobile charger and they dug one out, also they will order their own driver to take you to Euston etc at a reasonable cost). Nearby there are some great bars and a Waitrose ( I wanted wine in my room!). The breakfast is a buffet self serve affair but the quality is good and the waitress brings you tea and toast etc. its not that cheap (l managed to pay £80 the first time cash, but the second time had to pay full whack, £100. The cost is due to the location near Sloan Square, if you compare it to others it is good value and great if you like charector rather than a bland corporate feel

The staff, the rooms, the cleanliness and breakfast were great. Negative point, the location, 5-10min walk from Sloane square and 15min from Victoria station.

“Dissapointed”

We booked two rooms a double and a queen. The Hotel is shabby as far as the linens carpets etc. The window in our room also had very old curtains and the balcony when the window was open was shared by the next room. The room was not secure when the window was open. The staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was as stated very ample and delicious. The location was exceptional close to restaurants and the tube. I feel that I would only stay here again if updates were made.

“Friendly, pleasant staff, comfortable hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

The service in this hotel was some of the best I've had in London. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - about an hour after I checked in, a staff member arrived at my door with a complimentary box of chocolates, which I assume weren't left in the room because in July in London they would have melted...The WiFi was good, the TV had a huge range of digital channels, the room was comfortable if a little small - but larger than many similar rooms in London. The only problem some travellers might have is with the elevator, which is on the old style, with doors that need to be closed manually before it will work. It only fits 2 people and doesn't go all the way to the top floor - a nice touch, though, was the water cooler on the third floor, just before the staircase leading from the elevator to the top floor. The location is super - right in the heart of Chelsea - and the price excellent for the area.
