We have stayed at Collingham Apartments twice, with both our nieces, and just recently, our grandchildren, both times in 2BR/2bath flats. It makes all the difference to be able to make tea, breakfast, or lunch...even dinner, in a relaxed way, with space for everyone. Clean and with proper showers, the flats are tidied daily and the very helpful and friendly staff man the reception 24 hours a day. The location is fabulous, and the Collingham Gardens provide a green, calm atmosphere which seems far removed from London's bustle..but isn't! There are many good restaurants both in the local Gloucester Road area and it's a short walk/tube ride to S. Kensington, with its chic shopping, restaurants and easy access to the museums and the Albert Hall. For a glimpse of how the rich manage to spend all that money, take a walk through The Boltons, just down Collingham Road, or just enjoy the Dutch Renaissance-style buildings which line the local squares. For the book lovers in the group, you can also check out Slightly Foxed Bookstore, which is on the southeast corner of Collingham Gardens/Gloucester Road. (Actually, Collingham Gardens changes name to Harrington Gdns and then Stanhope, but it's all the same street!) We have recommended this hotel in the past and will continue to do so! And of course, we'll be back!
