“Simply dreadful”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This was easily the worst 4* hotel I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world, in fact to class it as 4* is an insult to the genuine 4* hotels in London. The room was tiny, the smallest I've ever witnessed in a hotel and the room was situated immediately above an overground train line which ran until well after midnight, and then from 6am on ensuring very little sleep anyway. Anybody of a large build would have struggled to turn around in the bathroom! The breakfast was appaling - plastic scrambled egg, very cheap sausages and beans was the full extent of the "English" breakfast and tea / coffee is self service from a vending machine. The only plus points were pleasent staff and a location only 5 or 6 stops to central London via the underground. There is absolutely no way this hotel can be classed as 4* - it is a very poor advert for both London and the UK at this star rating.

“Winner of smallest room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

London hotel rooms are very small but our room could win a prize for the smallest. We could hardly walk around the bed and there was no room for a chair. The bathroom was average sized but with poor lighting. There were two windows in our room which were good for openess but bad for noise. The complimentary breakfast was a large and fairly good buffet. The location was pretty good- close to Hyde Park & Paddington train station but off the main noisy street. There were restaurants (a couple Greek and a pub) nearby. The pub's carvery dinner was the best but watch out for hidden service charges at the others. Desk service was sort of backed up and slow.

“NOT 4 STAR”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We arrived at the henry V111 Hotel thinking it was 4 star, I stay in hotels alot and this hotel is not up to 4 star standard!
The reception area looks tired but the welcome from the receptionist was very curteous and polite. he directed us to our room that we were going to be staying in for 5 nights. It was sold as a double room, I think the tongue was firmly n cheek here! There was just enough room for the double bed and fitted wardrobe we would have to have got changed in the bathroom. We asked for another room which was no problem for the gentleman on the desk.
the next room was a little bigger.
this hotel is very clean with lovely staff in good location BUT
rooms are tiny, tv picture was green on old tv they don't even sell them like that anymore, the bathroom door kept getting stuck and locking us in, the breakfast is terrible, the pillows are made of concrete, THE SERVICE STAFF USE THE LIFTS DURING BREAKFAST TIME TO TRANSPORT DIRTY LAUNDRY SO YOU END UP TAKING THE STAIRS, the swimming pool could do with a good clean though the surroundings are fresh and clean. who gave them the 4 star rati ng?

Room Tip: there are two suites but this hotel is too far overpriced already why pay an extra £40 an night per...

“Terrible hotel!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel in december 2011. We had booked a doubleroom, but at the arrival we were told that there were only rooms available with two single beds that we had to push together. The toilet was impossible to flush and the sink in the bathroom did not drain the water. Nearby the hotel was a train station and you could hear trains all night from our room. The room was cramped and I don't think I have ever seen a TV that small.

The first day we asked the receptionist to call a taxi for us, it turned out that the hotel uses a "personal" taxi driver and we paid 17 pound to Oxford Steet. The ordinary taxis only cost us 6-7 pound.

The breakfast was terrible, the bacon and eggs they served were definitely not bacon and eggs!!! The selection of breakfast was poor, that's probably why the breakfast was included in the price.

The hotel staff were not friendly at all, they never said good morning, good afternoon when we returned to the hotel at evenings. When we checked out the didn't ask how our stay was or if we had enjoyed it.

The only positive thing about the hotel is that it is located quite centrally.
