I chose this hotel for a weekend break (2 nights) in central london for my husbands birthday. The location for me was key and I had looked at these reviews after I had booked (through lastmin.com) and how I wish I hadn't ignored them! We arrived and it looks nice from the outside, staff were quite unfriendly, but literally we dumped our bags and went straight out. We got back to the hotel late that night and realised what a mistake we had made booking here. The room was a small double (room 200), the heating did not work however we had a rubbish oil heater with a wheel missing which I assume was there as they knew the heating did not work, the plug sockets were placed in a very strange way so you couldn't use (when we asked for an adapter or extension lead we were told to go out and buy one), worst of all was the bed which felt like a camp bed you could feel every spring in it so I couldn't sleep all night, we also awoke to the cleaners hoovering at 5am and it was obviously freezing cold with just this rubbish heater trying to heat up the room, the second worst thing was the damp and mould on the bathroom ceiling which we only noticed the next morning. At this point I decided we would not be punished by having to stay here another night and I just wanted to go home, I explained everything to the manager who wasn't exactly sympathetic and told us as we had booked through last min.com and paid upfront they wouldn't refund us! It did reduce me to tears being spoken to like that and having no sleep didn't help. One thing was for sure I wasn't ever staying there again! They said they would attempt to get a full refund for the upcoming night and night we stayed however they said it would take 10 days which was fine. It is now 2 weeks later and I still have not had a refund. I have spoken to the 'financial controller' at the hotel who is the rudest person I have ever spoken to, he has said they have refunded us £88 (which is the wrong amount anyway and I have not had!) and he said we shouldn't have had it anyway as we should have given 24hours notice! I actually cannot believe the cheek, after such an awful experience they are now messing me around. I have now had to go to my credit card company who are disputing this transaction with last min.com now. I can honestly say I never complain about these sort of things however on this occasion I cannot let it slide. This is certainly not a 4 star hotel and the staff are unhelpful and the state of the rooms are disgusting. I hope people read this and decide not to stay here, please don't risk it, as everyone else has said on here DO NOT STAY HERE!
