“musty room with rodent traps”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

such a shame as i was really looking forward to this hotel. booked it ages ago for a nice weekend away and wanted a change to the usual waldork or trafalgar hiltons.
we booked a king deluxe plus room. as soon as we entered the room, it smelt really musty and damp. we immediately requested a move. we were given a smaller cheaper room, which was ok, at least it didn't smell!
it was annoying that i had to ask for something for being downgraded instead of them offering something. eventually gave us a bottle of wine.
staff need some training on this.
worse was to come. on the morning we were checking out, i wanted to charge my phone before breakfast. i looked under my side of the bed and there were two rodent traps just below where my head was on the bed. we complained and the staff didn't do anything. the duty manager, Lucian i think, insited that the large one had not being triggered as i thought, however when checking the rentokill website it appears this was triggered and therefore there was amouse inside it.
very disappointing to have traps just under the edge of the bed. also dirty marks on the bed sheet too.
will be staying elsewhere next time.

“Overall - very good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Yes the rooms are quite small but that is more than compensated-for by the helpful staff, nice lounge, great breakfast (if you pay 20 pounds pp) and free Wifi the lobby. Not sure why a hotel that costs this much charges so much for Wifi in the room. Convenient to Underground and 10-15 minutes away from most major sites. Nice little Italian restaurant around the corner to the north should not be missed.

Room Tip: There are no rooms with 2 beds. Ask for the 1 or 2 rooms that fit a rollaway. Tight but doable.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review, it was very kind of you to do so.
I have shared your review with the team and they are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We do have varying sizes of rooms as the hotel is a series of converted historically town houses. Do let us know when you are returning so we can allocate the room most suited to you. Thank you for your suggestion regarding the internet in the bedrooms.
Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to share you experience and do let me know when you are returning so we can ensure that you are well looked after.

“Great room, excellent location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Our room was a great size, comfortable, clean and very nicely decorated. We had breakfast at the hotel, which was amazing! There was plenty of choice and the food was delicious.

The room was only a few minutes walk from Green Park underground. We were only 10 minutes walking distance from Oxford Street and Leicester Square.

“Disappointing for £200+ a night. Tired,tiny rooms,needs refresh.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights on a recent business trip, good location but i think i stayed here many years ago in its pre-Hilton days and when it was perhaps fresher. It certainly is not up to normal Hilton standards i feel,
Firstly the room....tiny is the word, not unusual for your average London hotel but just enough room for bed+wardrobe+table+chair. Bathroom was ok with the usual Hilton toiletries and a good powerful shower. However, the pillows were hard and uncomfortable, one coat hanger self-destructed on use and the air-conditioning never worked the entire time i was there despite the optimistic readout from the control panel.
Biggest issue i had was with the noise. Somewhere above me it sounded like someone was having an all night marching contest in their room...for 3 consecutive nights ! Including a permanently squeaking floorboard nearby meany 3 nights of about 4 hours sleep a night. I was on the 3rd floor and it was noticeable whilst walking down the corridor that many of the floorboards were loose, creaky and in need of some maintenance. Each morning i meant to mention this to reception but each morning i was in a hurry having overslept my alarm due to lack of quality sleep.
Last issue was the room service...only had 1 meal during my stay....they sent Smoked Salmon sandwich instead of ham and the chips were barely cooked..i was so hungry and it was 10:45pm so i just had to make do. Did have a few drinks in the bar, nothing notable to report, seemed like a regular bar, service was good.
Finally, on check-out, i was not asked if my stay was ok...i took the trouble to fill out a feedback form detailing the issues above, lets see how they respond.
Would i go back ? No. despite the location and the desire for Hilton points there are plenty of other places where you can get a decent nights sleep and room service.

Room Tip: Ask for one without creaky floorboards.

“Wonderful Hotel and Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed at the GPH for 10 days in Nov 11, the staff were so friendly and always greeteed us whenever we walked in or out. Our room was on the top floor and at the back of the hotel so it was very quite. it was a Hiltion King Deluxe and was a good size room for London, the bathroom was vey big, it was always clean. The hotel is a little quirky, but that is I think it's charm plus that fact that it is as everyone says in a great location. We are plning our next trip to London next year and will have no hesitation in staying here again.

Room Tip: Back rooms are much quieter
