“Tired, basic - best taken as is!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed a second night in London as Dolphin House (where we'd stayed the previous night) was out of budget. This hotel is centrally located and close to Victoria Station. The staff were efficient and helpful. We stayed on the first floor facing the road. The family room (one double bed, one single) was cramped, hot and stuffy due to the radiator being cranked up. Problem was solved by opening the balcony door during the day and we suffered during the night.

The ensuite was basic but clean, the room dark and contained a small open cupboard to put our gear away. If you're only in for the night, it's a value option for sleeping.

We'd picked up a B&B deal and were horrified at the full walk-in off the street price, so if you have to stay here, get a Trivago or Late-rooms deal to get better value.

Breakfast was in a packed dining room not much bigger than our bedroom. Approximately sixteen tables and chairs with very little room to swing a cat. Food was reasonable. The kitchen staff were lovely.

The hotel is close to the Tate, Pimlico and Victoria Stations - walking is easy. Buck house and Knightsbridge are close by. We found using the underground via Pimlico better than walking through Vic bus and train stations.

Room Tip: Try to secure a non-street facing room if available.

“Helpful staff, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Receptionists very helpful. Decent rooms for the money. Bathrooms small but perfectly adequate. No elevator, though. 10-15 min walk from Victoria underground station, 5 from the international bus terminal, 25 to Westminster Abbey. 30-40 minutes to Heathrow on a shuttle (ask at the reception). Safe neighborhood with pretty gardens on a pretty Georgian street. Several restaurants and bars around the corner at Warwick Way - but keep in mind that they close early and that they don't serve good food.

“Cheap and worth it :D”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

First of all dont take care of all the bad reviews you'll find under this! Those are people that even if you send them to a 5 star hotel they will surly complain! When we arrived we were given the key of the room which was only in the first floor and it was nice and cosy and big enough for four persons we had an en-suite shower with it that we always found clean! Morning staff was really nice...They cleaned our room and gave us towels everyday The night reception i didn't like cause when we entered late in the evening we had to ring the bell like four or five times for him to come open! Breakfast room was quite small and cramped but we always managed to have breakfast! Maybe if it could include some ham and maybe eggs it would be better i think. Over all i would definitely come back to this hotel. Thanks for the pleasant stay :D

“Never again.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

If you read in the prospect "cosy room" it means there is enough space for only one step between bed and wall.
OK, they warned - "we have no elevator in the hotel" - but staircase... very very narrow, steep one.
TV with blurry picture.
Electricity was suddenly cut at the evening, almost for one hour.
Did not like the smell from the buffet downstairs, so decided to take my breakfast somewhere else.
No view from the window at all, I'm not joking, see the picture attached.
And to be honest, they have two advantages:
- location - close to Buckingham palace, Westminster Abbey, Victoria station
- internet access, free and unlimited

Acceptable choice for no more than one night stay, for young and absolutely healthy people (just remember about the staircase).

This hotel is centrally located in Victoria which makes it very convinient for travelling to the airports and around the city. It is walking distance to Buckingham Palace.
The room, the bed, and the bathroom are all very old which may be at par for that area in London. It is, however, clean and well maintained. The breakfast included in the room rate is pretty good - comparable to any breakfast offered at any american motel or 2-3 star hotels. There is a hot water pot in the room with tea and coffee should you need something hot late in the night.
Service was good. The two different people we dealt with at the front desk are very nice. However, they make you leave your key at the hotel when you are out of the hotel. This is a practice I am not used to.
