“Average - okay at St Giles”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I have stayed at St. Giles a number of times but this was the first time for a while - and nothing has changed. It is a hard review to write because some things are good and some things are less so. The location is superb, it is at Tottenhem Court Road tube station and the top of Oxford Street. The lobby is impressive, marble and very well presented - it looks like you are staying somewhere very classy. You also have access to a swimming pool - and you can tell because the smell of chlorine overpowers reception.
Check-in was quick and easy and staff excellent.

The negatives are the rooms - they are small (average I suppose for London) but they are dated (tv's are quite good), carpet and sheets very old fashioned and carpet in room and in halls is torn and frayed. It was, however, clean.

Overall I would not say don't stay at St Giles, for its price (I paid £90) it's more than acceptable for London and for work or if you are only going to be in the room for a short time or a few days. However if you are coming for a week or so or are looking for a romantic stay with a bit of style I would look elsewhere.

“theatre break”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

just back from st giles hotel and have to agree with other reviews about the size of the rooms ,very small. hated using the old fashioned bathroom and thought the carpet in the bedroom was old and dirty. All in all wished id paid extra and went to a better hotel, did not wish to return to my room after a day out sightseeing

Room Tip: choose a higher floor, we had the ninth floor

“Never Never Never Again!”

I will not be back as have no desire to stay in a small cupboard again. Room was the smallest I have ever stayed in.
Lifts were a joke - waiting a long time every trip.
Breakfast was a horrible experience and felt like in a prison!
I can find no reason why anyone would want to stay at this hotel. I will not be back!
Not the nicest area of London.
Look for another hotel.

“location and leisure club”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Honestly saying, there are two good things to be said about this place. It is the location and the unique access to the Central London YMCA Club – any guest of the hotel is allowed to use all the facilities in this gigantic leisure and fitness club for a nominal fee of five pounds! You are supposed to pay for it at the hotel reception desk and then you only need to use the hotel lift to get to the YMCA club which is located just in the basements of the hotel. I recommend a swimming pool with two types of sauna just next to the pool.
Well, since I was regularly going to the club and having a shower there I was lucky to avoid using my room’s bathroom – tiny with an old shower and peeling paint… The room was tiny too, one of the smallest single rooms I have ever seen! But I would not say it was not clean. It was clean and have all the necessary equipment except the internet which is accessible but not free (10 pounds per day).
Still, I would come back there because all the inconveniences are compensated by the location – just in the heart of London.

“Perfect location for break away”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This is a perfect location for a weekend away in the city with friends.

The bar stays open until late (3.30am) and the staff are helpful and friendly.

This hotel is a stones throw from the tube as well as shops and restaurants - Overall a good experience!

Room Tip: Corner suites may be slightly smaller - particularly the bathrooms!
