“Good price, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Booked in half an hour early, no problem. Booked a room without a view to avoid traffic noise but was given Room 667 which was at the front of the building. Scaffolding up at windows so no view. Didn't bother to change room as the hum of the traffic wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Room was very clean, bed comfy and room was warm which was a blessing as it was a very cold weekend. We had booked tickets for the Adelphi theatre which was a 2 minute walk away. Very convenient. Breakfast next morning was good, with plenty of choice. Checkout was painless. All the staff were very pleasant and polite. Would definitely recommend and book this hotel again if we come to London.

I stay here quite often through work commitments, it is ideally placed on The Strand , 3 minutes walk to Covent Garden , 12 minutes walk to Leicester Square/Piccadilly.Minutes from the Thestreland.
The hotel itself is very clean, rooms are good , could be a bit bigger I suppose, Breakfast is ok , quality and variety could be improved , but overall I would stay here again

“Another pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Probably my 10th stay over several years. Early check in vastly appreciated. Kind check in agent who looked for a room that was ready, as the original one assigned to me was not yet prepared. Booked a single without a view, and wound up with the 8th floor and a spectacular view over towards St. Pauls. Heater worked okay, and I used the space between the window and wooden shutters as a cold storage for juice and wine! They provided me with a thick robe and I was warm enough with it.

Superb location for the theatres, which is why I constantly select this hotel. Some are less than a 2 minute walk, much appreciated on cold winter evenings.

Got the Sunday supplement, which was a free roast dinner for staying over a Sunday night. Quite good. One other trip I got food poisoning in their restaurant, but things were much better this time!

Looking forward to more London theatre in a few months, and will certainly try to stay at the Strand Palace again.

Room Tip: Do not stay facing the Strand. Constant traffic.

Dear Guest,

We were pleased to welcome you back, and it's great to hear you enjoyed your stay. It was also good to see that you enjoyed our special Sunday offer of a complimentary dinner (the Sunday Supplement promotion) and you were not put off by your previous dining experience.

Regards,
David

“Good Location, Pleasant Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

One (Monday ) night stay only, booked at short notice to meet up with wife's American cousin flying in from New York on business. She was staying at The Savoy ( just across the road) but unfortunately our budget did not stretch that far !! But we were not disappointed. Ignore the external scaffolding/tarpaulin, ( we were not disturbed by work or noise ) inside both public rooms and bedrooms are clean, modern and bright. Staff very friendly, asked for side room (Exeter Street) no problem, it was quiet with view.Recommend pre-dinner drinks/cocktails in The Mask Bar half price Happy Hour(s) 5-10pm.!!! Buffet breakfast was included, wide choice, well presented and regularly replenished in a bright, unhurried start to the day. As " locals " we chose this hotel for convenience, but for visitors to London from other parts of UK or overseas it is ideally located for theatres, galleries, museums, restaurants, bars, and many of the not to be missed " sights and places of interest " in London many within walking distance all at a reasonable City Centre price.

Room Tip: Side room (716 ) overlooking Exeter St. ( at time of writing no external works )

Dear Guest,

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Indeed our prices are somewhat lower than our very close neighbours at the Savoy, and although we are currently refurbishing the exterior of our hotel it was good that you were not disturbed by any noise. Our guests privacy and comfort are our main concern during our renovation project.

Regards,
David
