This is a corporate hotel where busy people come and go and keep pretty much to themselves. The building is grand, majestic. The reception area is elegant and impressive but not very inviting, lacking warmth. It seems to me as if the staff does not want you to linger in the hallway, as soon as you step in from outside or from the lift, there is always someone asking you if you need help as if they were wondering what you were doing there. I felt I was an intruder . A bit akward. Definitively not a home way from home. The breakfast room is very trendy and sophisticated, but it looks like it is a place only for power breakfasts. Perhaps the tourists do not stay at this hotel. Everybody was ordering breakfast à la carte, despite the fact that the breakfast buffet was sensational (e.g.. I never saw such a great choice of delicious cheese). But be aware: breakfast is not cheap. I went a couple of times to the hotel bar which is probably the most athmospheric place in the whole hotel. Again, most people there were business people having meetings. Nevertheless it was nice. In conclusion, if you are on a business trip and you want to impress your client with a power breakfast, this is the place to go. The location is great. For people who want to have a cheaper, more low key, but still nice breakfast, you can go to Valerie's a French Pastry shop/ café that is 3 minutes walk from the hotel in Sicilian Avenue. For diner, you can go to the Delaunay, on Aldwych which is just 10 minutes by foot down Kingsway. The concierge did not seem to be very knowledgeable about restaurants close to the hotel.
