“Perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

It´s very nice too see the Doubletree-brand showing up in Europe. And our 3 night stay at the London West End branch was a good one. The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect, with most of central London within walking distance. The hotel itself is newly refurbished, and our room was small but of high standard. Beds were lovely. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant, so cannot comment on that. Only complaint would be, that we were not offered cookies at check-in. Asked for them later, and the guy in reception said they would send some up to our room. But they never did, which I find a bit strange, since the cookies are such a strong part of the Doubletree brand. But wouldn´t mind staying again.

Thank you for your comments. I am glad to read that you enjoyed the hotel’s central location and found your room comfortable. I am very sorry that you did not receive your Chocolate Chip cookie on arrival. As you mentioned, giving all of our Guests a warm DoubleTree Chocolate Cookie on arrival is an important part of welcoming our Guests to our hotel. I can assure you our Front Office Team has been informed to ensure that this does not happen again.
I hope we can welcome you back to the hotel (with a cookie) again very soon!

Yours Sincerely,

Caitlin Klarenbach

“Excellent service, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Just like the Doubletrees we've stayed in all over the US, but with London sized rooms. Very friendly staff, very good breakfasts, and just a few minutes walk from Holborn tube station. The rooms are very nicely finished, clean bathrooms (with good shower pressure - not always a given in London!), and really comfortable beds! But it is London, so expect a room where the double bed is up against the wall. It's not as small as some we've stayed in though!
And good "little things", like a light in the closet, an ironing board and iron, a room safe, big fluffy towels, and the room's "little secret"...the tea/coffee maker and biscuits are in the top drawer of the bureau! (found it as we were checking out!)
The hotel doesn't have that "well-used" finish that several of the other London hotels we've stayed in have (chipped paint in hallways from the service carts, worn carpets, a genteel faded glory...) Everything looks new and well finished.
Would we stay there again? Absolutely!

Room Tip: Rooms on the front can be a little noisy because Southampton Row is a main thoroughfare.

Thank you very much for your comments regarding your stay with us. It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed our newly refurbished hotel and our buffet breakfast. If you return to the hotel, please feel free to request a room to the back of the hotel to avoid any noise from the traffic on Southampton Row.

We do hope to welcome you back to the hotel again soon!

Yours Sincerely,

Caitlin Klarenbach

“Typical business hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Nothing special. Pretty arrogant staff. Little annoyances like having to pay £15 for a bit of wifi in your room. Breakfast average. Very small room. In fact so small bedside tables to put a drink of water on were not even fitted.
On the positive side they did get me a room at a discount (or so they claimed) when our travel department had booked me the wrong date (nice going from our end of things).

Room Tip: Get a big one.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay with us at DoubleTree by Hilton London – West End. I am happy to hear we were able to offer you a discount but am sorry to hear you were not happy with your room size. The hotel is housed in a historic building, and we do have a variety of room sizes. I am also sorry to read you were not happy about our internet prices. I can assure you our pricing is competitive with other hotels in the area, and we will be offering free wi-fi in our lobby in the coming months.

I do hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel again soon to see the improvements we are making daily to ensure only the best service and standards for our guests.

Yours Sincerely,

Caitlin Klarenbach

“Nice room, good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed here as we wanted somewhere central to stay near to the theatres. Enjoyed a nice room and bathroom, and very efficient service for our room service breakfast in the morning. The lobby area was really nice and welcoming and staff were really helpful and friendly, couldn't fault them. The only issue (although we found it amusing) was that on trying to return to the lobby area we unknowingly used the wrong lift and ended up on a level (ground floor or level 1, can't remember) which was unfinshed, ceiling panels were missing all along and electrical wires were hanging down. Slightly unnerving that we were able to access the level so easily!

We would definately return to the hotel in the future.

I am glad to read your positive comments regarding your recent stay with us at the DoubleTree by Hilton London – West. It is great to hear the team were helpful and friendly throughout your stay. I believe you may have accidentally taken our service elevator to the basement floor. I can assure you that will be putting better signage in place to ensure this does not happen again.

Once again thank you for your comments and we hope to welcome you back to the hotel again soon.

“Poor for a major city hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed one night as colleagues had already booked their stay at the hotel. Room itself was adequate, but no Internet access - wifi or wired - in the room. For a hotel in a major city where business people will stay this is a major issue. Access in public areas and Executive Rooms, but none in standard rooms that cost almost GBP200 per night. As I had an ealy start the next morning I was up before 6am - the water was only luke warm despite letting it run for a full 5 minutes. I stay in London a few times every month, but I will never be returning to this hotel.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the back. The front of the hotelis on a major road in London.

Thank you for providing feedback on your recent stay with us at the hotel. I am sorry to read your stay was not a complete success. I was especially concerned to hear about the lack of Internet connectivity as this is a facility that we do provide throughout the hotel. If you would like to discuss the issues you mentioned in more detail, please feel free to email me at c.klarenbach@dtlondonwestend.com and I will be able to fully respond. Again thank you your feedback and we hope to have the opportunity of being your host again in future.
