“Amazing Views - at a price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I stayed here twice within the last 3 weeks what a tale of two halves - the first was a weekend getaway with my husband - we got a deal through travel zoo for a 'deluxe' room with breakfast for £119 - on arrival I was asked if we wanted to upgrade to a better room with a better view and a bottle of wine - yes please ! Oh but there is a charge of £40 ! Fair enough I thought so we decided to go for it - the room was fantastic, not far from the lifts but far enough away, massive bed, heated bathroom floor the view of tower bridge was absolutely breathtaking and the wine would have cost us £25 according to the price list so we were more than happy - 2 weeks later I arrived again to meet a girlfriend this time I booked another special offer of a standard room without breakfast for £99 did I want to upgrade? No thanks - what a difference! The room was miles away a good 5 min walk from the lift (the view of the tower was ok to be fair) room was tiny and old fashioned - it was abs freezing and I couldn't get the air con to work - when I rang about the heating I was told that the whole hotel was without heating and it would be back on in 5 mins - it didn't come on all night in my room - was charged special rate of £10 for breakfast - to be fair the breakfast is ok but they pour out the tea from a flask and it tastes like dishwater - pls start to do teapots instead! So my advice is go for the upgrade and you will have a far better experience

Room Tip: Go for an upgrade

Dear Reviewer,
Thanks for your post,
I’m really sorry to read that you experienced such a difference between your two stays with us. We are in the process of refurbishing our bedrooms, the majority are already completed. I’d like to apologise that your room was without heating, we experienced a National Grid power cut and despite our emergency generator this affected the heating in a number of our rooms during this time.
Thanks very much for your feedback regarding breakfast I regret our lapse in standards on this occasion.
I hope you’ll return to the Tower soon
Kind regards
Ian

“Fabulous Views”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I stayed here with my husband for 1 night on a short visit to London.
The hotel is right at the side of Tower Bridge, the building isn't the most imposing building around but inside we were pleasantly surprised.
The check in was quick but we were told the room we had booked didn't have a view (although I booked directly with the hotel and was led to believe all rooms had a view of either St Katherine's Dock or the Bridge), if we wanted to pay another £25 we would be upgraded to a room with a view of Tower Bridge....Well, we had to didn't we!!....What a view, it was fabulous.

The room was ok, the only thing i'll say is that an amorous couple had used the chair in the window...I'll say no more about that!

If you're wanting 4 star luxury without the view I should look elsewhere

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Tower Bridge, if your trip is in summer I would ask for a room on the 4th floor Th...

Dear Reviewer,
Thanks for your post,
I’m delighted that you and your husband enjoyed your stay with us; I regret the lack of attention to detail regarding the chair in your room. The vast majority of our rooms do indeed have views of the Docks, Thames and Tower Bridge. I’m so glad you enjoyed one of our fabulous view from our bridge facing rooms.
I hope we’ll be able to welcome you back again soon.
Kind regards
Ian

“Not bad, rooms just looking a little bit tired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed here for a Saturday night theatre trip - reception very friendly, I requested a room with a bridge view when I booked as it was for my daughter's birthday and they provided this - seemed as though they just stuck an extra bed in a two bedded room but that wasn't really an issue as we didn't spend a great deal of time in the room, anyhow it was clean and the beds were comfortable. This was third time I have stayed here, the first time was about 30 years ago and while reception looks pretty modern it appears that the rooms haven't had much attention since then. The windows and paintwork look a bit tired as did the fabric round the base of the bed but it was clean and tidy. One tip if just staying for the saturday night - the hotel car park charge £20 for 24 hours, park in The Minories car park just up the road and it's only £2 for 24 hours. Overall i'd say above average but not brilliant

Room Tip: Just ask for a bridge view when reserving

“great view - comfy beds!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Bit of a trek to get to the entrance from the tube station, but the hotel is ideally situated right on the river, 5 mins on foot from the tube station.
Received a complementary room upgrade on checking in, got a gorgeous deluxe room with a river view, and a huge comfy bed.
Reception and door dtaff very polite, prefessional and helpful
only downside was windows were very draughty, but had lovely thick floor length curtains so was hardly noticed
Fab hotel

Room Tip: go for a river view if you can

“Nice Hotel and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed here on a Theatre Trip break that i had booked on line. The hotel itself was in a really lovely location as it was near the docks which had some really nice bars and restaurants, which was great if you do not want to pay Hotel restaurant prices!!! The room itself was clean and modern and we had a wonderful view of Tower Bridge. I would stay here again.
