This is a strange review for me to write as I actually won a 2 night stay at this hotel in my local paper, so find it hard to slate the hotel too much as we didn't have to pay for it.
But if I had paid I don't think i would have been overly happy, but saying that I don't think I would have chosen this hotel in the first place.
We were travelling as a couple with our 1 yr old daughter. I cant fault the staff who were very attentive but the facilities for what we needed weren't very sufficient.
We had room 111, which compared to other London hotels was a nice size, obviously we had to get a travel cot in there, there was ample room and plenty of space with it up. I was concerned that we were at the back of the hotel overlooking the The Mitre pub, but as it was a Monday and Tuesday it caused no problems. The beds are huge but unfortunately the duvet is for a single bed, we ended up tugging and pulling it to and fro all night!
The breakfast was very good, better than alot of London hotels.
But the hotel does not offer any food or room service, on our last night we wanted to stay in, out our daughter down and have a drink and a meal, but the hotel downstairs in so small, literally reception and small bar. Also be aware then when you check in they require a card as a deposit, but as they do not offer room service or any drinks etc in the room then I don't quite see the point of this. Also they reserve £30 from your card, which I wasn't told, so when I got home I immediately thought my card had been cloned as I didn't recognise the transaction, apparently it can take up to 2 weeks for it to be lifted!!!
For us this hotel did offer what we needed but if you are a single or a couple then this would be perfect, nice location, 3 minutes from Hyde Park and 5 minutes from the tube.
