“Not what we expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Book through Lastminute.com secret hotel, paid £124.25 room only.
Got ripped off, normal price £150.inc Breakfast, so we saved 25p. The room given was a small double at back of building next to a store cupboard that was used from 7am. Its a large rambling building so you need good legs.
To the outside it has all the trimmings, smart uniformed staff and free apples, but scratch the surface and your just a room number, saying all that were treat with courtesy and we had a great weekend in the snow, but then they didnt supply that.
The Hotel blurb stated its position as "ideal for theatre land" is not quite right, its a bit north of that.
I guess the complaint should be with Lastminute.com really, and I must remember "buyer beware".

Room Tip: Ask for one, you might be lucky.

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. I am sorry that you were not entirely satisfied with your recent stay.

As previously discussed on this forum, being a property that was not originally built to be a hotel, room sizes do vary. It is a bit of walk for the rooms in the back but it is worth it as these are quite rooms, a rare in Central London. If a larger room is preferred we do offer upgrades for a reasonable supplement.

It does pain me that you feel disappointed in our hospitality as we have worked tremendously hard to ensure every guest stay is a memorable one. Our recent reviews on this site is testament to that statement.

Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback and I do sincerely hope we have the opportunity to invite back in the future.

Kind Regards

Fasih Khan

“Noisy and Cold”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Very poor room , near lifts and noise made worse by marble floor outside bedroom door. Basics missing like bath towels, chairs to sit on, mirrors for drying hair ???
Despite having a deluxe room,
staff reaction was to come back later when they were less busy.
On the coldest weekend so far this year the room heating was virtually non existant. We put the room cushions on the window sills and across door frame to try and keep warm
I will stick to Premier Inns in London in future.

The restaurants Le Pain quotideien up the road was wonderful and welcoming so we had our breakfast and evening meals there, I wasn't going to give the Radisson any more money than I had already.

Room Tip: Away from lift

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review of the Grafton Hotel on Tripadvisor.

I am most grateful for your feedback, which is such a valuable source of information for me, regardless of whether it is good or bad, and helps me monitor the service we provide.

We are currently undergoing soft renovations of our bedrooms which include modern décor and new widescreen flat televisions to ensure more comfort to our guest. Whilst the renovations are underway, we do operate a system to continuously monitor our rooms and update where necessary. The air-conditioning process is a part of our checks. I'm sorry we have let you down on this occasion.

I am however more concerned about our unprofessional attitude amongst members of my team as service is something I am constantly working on as I believe it is the single most important aspect affecting a hotel stay.

Once again, thank you for your invaluable feedback and I do sincerely hope we have the opportunity to invite back in the future.

Kind regards

Fasih Khan,
Guest Relations Manager.

“very central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

My son and I stayed in this hotel over his birthday weekend, which I booked as a lastminute top secret hotel.

We had two single rooms next to each other, they were mirror images of each other. For single rooms, they were a good size and did not feel at all cramped. The marble bathroom was clean, with lovely large soft white towels.

The bed was comfortable, if a bit on the hard side, but I slept very well. The rooms were at the front of the building, so I expected some traffic noise, but apart from the odd siren, it wasn't bad with the windows closed.

There were a few design flaws but these are quite minor. Firstly, I could have used a magnifying mirror in the bathroom for putting on make up. I have a feeling that where the wide screen TV is now, there used to be a mirror. This would account for why the hairdryer is fixed in the drawer underneath. As it is, it is a very tight stretch to use it in front of the full length mirror near the bathroom.

We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, but had a room service sandwich, which came with chips and salad, a meal in itself. This was very reasonable, and was served quickly and efficiently.

The bar serves very good champagne cocktails and is a very pleasant place to spend a few hours of an evening when you come back from the theatre.

The hotel is in an ideal location, next to Warren Street station, which is on the Northern and Victoria tube lines, walking distance from Oxford Street and Leicester Square.

“Extraordinarily good service - luxurious and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I had the good fortune to stay at the Radisson Edwardian Grafton on business recently and even more fortunate to secure a deluxe king suite. On the tv in the room, the in house channel talks about the hotel as being a home away from home.

Personally, I didn't want to leave. It was nicer than my home. The room was so large it boasted two wide screen televisions, lounge area, modern art and a huge mirrored corridor. The dark wood flooring gave the room an air of opulence. Having stayed in another kind suite here (carpeted) the rooms had very different feels. This was business like. A large desk built into one of the many windows (I lost count at about 36 panes of glass) looked down over the Tottenham Court Road. Here I could work, keep an eye on the news and watch the world go by simultaneously.

The bathroom deserves a special mention. Double sinks, shower and a large bath with every whim catered for it felt like I was on holiday. It is very unusual to be able to walk around a hotel room and cover so much distance - it really is that big.

Tea anc coffee facilities were complemented with an additional pod style coffee maker and fruit was waiting in the room upon arrival. The staff at check in were both courteous and friendly and I felt genuinely welcomed. I save my greatest praise for the breakfast. I gave myself ample time to enjoy it having been rushing for deadlines in the past. The manager greeted me, enquired after my partner who had accompanied me some 6 months previously and made me feel like a long lost friend. I couldnt describe how nice that one little gesture was. The things about this hotel is, you feel taken care of. I will be recommending this as THE place to stay to friends, family and colleagues. A short stroll and you are in the centre of everything and yet with a hotel like this you may find you want to stay in.

“Great Location... Better for Business than Pleasure....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Location was on the money. Staff is geared more to the business client than the pleasure seeker. Accomadations were good and clean, the bar was nice however, the food and drink quality lacked the speacial touch. Breakfast was very dissapointing definatley not worth the price. Plenty of nice places outside the hotel to eat and drink at a much better value. I had a problem with my rate with a multiple room booking that was not corrected,,,, and watch out for the OPTIONAL ROOM SURCHARGE...........

Room Tip: must have a delux king.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to post your review of the Grafton Hotel on Tripadvisor.
I am most grateful for your feedback, which is such a valuable source of information for me, regardless of whether it is good or bad, and helps me monitor the service we provide.
I would have to agree with our location as we are very convenient for all round access and close to all the major shopping districts in London.
Whilst I know that price is a very subjective issue, we do regularly check our breakfast rates against other comparable four star properties to ensure that we reflect the right level of rate and service. We are in the process in designing 6 new cocktails that will be the signature drinks in our Bar. I hope to see you try them in the near future.
Please feel free to contact me directly at the Hotel should you wish to discuss the problem with your room rate in more detail.

Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback and I do sincerely hope we have the opportunity to invite back in the future.
Kind regards
