The hotel is conveniently located near the Pimlico and Victoria stations. It’s an old hotel, like all of the area. When we were in June 2011 were doing renovations. The cleanliness of the hotel was fairly acceptable. The sheets were clean, although the pillows looked like they had belonged to Queen Victoria, were old and yellow. The beds were quite uncomfortable, lumpy suspects. The rooms overlooking Belgrave Road are much noisier than the inner, you hear a lot of traffic at night.
The true horrors of this hotel are the service, and the fact that it’s virtually impossible to sleep well overnight.
-In one of the two rooms we had no soap. We asked for it at reception and they politely replied that they would replace it right away. They did not. The next day we remembered them. Same thing. In the 3 days we stayed, we had no soap.
-In one of the rooms, the bathroom exhaust fan was broken and spent the entire first night making a horrible noise. We asked the next day at reception if they could disconnect it. Again they said they would. Of course they did not. Three days with the horrible noise.
-The second day we woke up at night startled by a strange and loud whistle sound in the room. We found that it was the heater, we had a night do-it-yourself session to fix it with some keys and a towel.
-The last day we arrived 5 minutes before breakfast time ended and when the employee saw us going downstairs, she shut the door in our faces (despite the previous day, people got even 10 minutes after the breakfast closing time).
The only positive fact, let us store luggage on the last day at the reception without charge.
In short, the rooms are pretty bad, and the lousy service I've been several times in London, staying in that area and there are far better hotels for similar price.
