“Convenient location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

This hotel is near the Victoria train, coach and tube stations. The hotel is like the other small hotels on the street in terms of having small rooms, very small washrooms and lots of stairs to climb (depending on the floor you are on). For a short stay and the price, this hotel fits the bill. It has a free internet kiosk. The room I had (211) was clean, with a good mattress. The breakfast is so so (the serving staff were less than enthusiastic), other hotels on the street have better and if it isn't enough, the train station has plenty of other food options. It is about a 15 pound cab ride to paddington train station if you are going to the airport at early/late hours.

Room Tip: rooms at back are quieter.

“Shabby but not chic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011 via mobile

Hotel is extremely basic and not very clean. On our two night stay we asked to be moved to another room as our double matris was so old you could feel the springs coming through. You really get what you pay for. Spending a little bit more per night can get you a much better hotel

“The hotel of horrors”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2011

The hotel is conveniently located near the Pimlico and Victoria stations. It’s an old hotel, like all of the area. When we were in June 2011 were doing renovations. The cleanliness of the hotel was fairly acceptable. The sheets were clean, although the pillows looked like they had belonged to Queen Victoria, were old and yellow. The beds were quite uncomfortable, lumpy suspects. The rooms overlooking Belgrave Road are much noisier than the inner, you hear a lot of traffic at night.

The true horrors of this hotel are the service, and the fact that it’s virtually impossible to sleep well overnight.

-In one of the two rooms we had no soap. We asked for it at reception and they politely replied that they would replace it right away. They did not. The next day we remembered them. Same thing. In the 3 days we stayed, we had no soap.

-In one of the rooms, the bathroom exhaust fan was broken and spent the entire first night making a horrible noise. We asked the next day at reception if they could disconnect it. Again they said they would. Of course they did not. Three days with the horrible noise.

-The second day we woke up at night startled by a strange and loud whistle sound in the room. We found that it was the heater, we had a night do-it-yourself session to fix it with some keys and a towel.

-The last day we arrived 5 minutes before breakfast time ended and when the employee saw us going downstairs, she shut the door in our faces (despite the previous day, people got even 10 minutes after the breakfast closing time).

The only positive fact, let us store luggage on the last day at the reception without charge.

In short, the rooms are pretty bad, and the lousy service I've been several times in London, staying in that area and there are far better hotels for similar price.

“Cheap place with good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2011

The location of the hotel is really good, few minutes far from Victoria station. The bathroom was definitely too small,no space for my leg when using the toilet and the shower was just a tap almost on top of the toilet. The breakfast quality was not so good. In general I think it is a good hotel for the price they offer and I would recommend it for short stays or business trip in London.

“Not cheap or nice”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

I work for a charity and we try to book cheap places to stay. £80 however was, in my opinion, too much for this place. The guy at the desk was rude, the main entrance was being re-done and covered in wet plaster, the room was ok but not comfortable, the bathroom was tiny and like previously said everything got soaked when you used the shower.
The description of the breakfast was 'continental' is a joke. The breakfast room was in the basement where a surly woman gave me 2 pieces of toast and some hot water to go with the jar of Nescafe on my table. The other option was some stale cereal. Needless to say I left after my 2 pieces of toast and went to Starbucks. I've told my work never to use this hotel ever again as I believe it's a total rip-off.
