“Great Stay, Great Service”

I actually signed up to Trip Advisor to leave a review for the guys at SDH as a thank you for being so nice. I can't understand other reviews criticizing the hospitality.

I was very happy with every aspect of my stay but especially by the personal and polite service that I experienced from everyone at SDH. I feel they went over and above their duty and especially what I would have expected.

Obviously location, cleanliness, and room were perfect. To be helpful and give a balanced review there was a little street noise (room 101) but nothing major and a bit of noise one morning from the room above us walking around and then being hoovered, but again not major.

All in all it couldn't have been better really. I would recommend SDH to everyone.

“Hidden little gem in Chelsea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

This little B&B was the perfect find. After many attempts with boutique hotels in London, we were thrilled that San Domenico House offered large rooms with excellent service and a real "home away from home" ambiance. Ideally located wihin a stone's throw from Sloane Square and Kings Road, what better spot to spend a few days. The staff bent over backwards to help and no request was too much for them to handle. Normally, this kind of service in a big city comes with a hefty price tag.... not here. This will definitely be our first choice from now on for every future stay in London.

Room Tip: For familys, rooms 403 - 404 are fantastic as there is an outer door that can enclose the 2 rooms.

“Mixed feelings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

Stayed here for two nights with my husband for short a Christmas break and have mixed feelings about our experience.

First impressions were pretty good: the reception area was decorated beautifully for Christmas and had welcoming open fire. The member of staff who checked us in was not quite so welcoming, we felt they made no attempt to create any air of friendliness. This was something we experienced with all of the staff but having said that they were efficient in their roles.

We were given room 203 which is at the front of the hotel. The room was large and decorated in an opulent style. It was clean but some of the wallpaper looked slightly grubby in places. The bathroom is the part of the stay that disappointed me the most - didn't like the shower and tiles around the bath did not look thoroughly cleaned. Molton Brown toiletries - shower gel and shampoo but no conditioner.

No tea or coffee making facilities and no alcohol in the mini bar! Room service stops at 9pm. We didn't have breakfast at San Domenico House so can't comment on the quality of that. We preferred to go out - the Botanist is a few minutes walk from the hotel. We had a great breakfast there.

We found the location excellent for what we wanted to do - mostly a bit of Christmas shopping. Overall, I think the hotel is good value for the location but for me it was the bathroom that let the quality of the room down. I think it is unlikely that we would stay here again.

“Fabulous and characterful base in London!”

If you want to return as soon as you leave then that says it all about this charming and quirky mini hotel in Chelsea. The staff were all absolutely lovely and genuinely helpful, we experienced no language difficulties at all, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is in a wonderfully quiet and peaceful street, no noise from anything despite our windows looking out into the street, it was very restful. The bedroom was a deluxe mini suite with galleried landing with sofa and table, bathroom was spacious and felt luxurious, overall we had a feeling that we had lots of space. Room service was extremely prompt with a huge tray of tea, toast and preserves priced at £8 for two, would be a bargain anywhere in Europe we felt! The location is perfect, 2mins from Peter Jones/ Sloane St/ Sloan Sq/ Kings Rd/ Tube etc...there were gorgeous restaurants in walking distance - you must try the prawn & courgette linguini at San Lorenzo on Beauchamp Place! Overall, the hotel made our trip very special, we felt as if we had stumbled into a little secret world where we were being looked after!

Room Tip: For quirkiness of a room on different levels choose room 204, it was also very peaceful.

“A hidden gem”

A beautiful and impressive small hotel that is in a great location. The rooms are large, particularly by London standards, with tasteful decorations and excellent furnishings - it certainly feels like five star luxury accommodation. The staff were excellent, very efficient and friendly. I did not stay for breakfast so unable to comment. Only very small drawback is that there is no tea and coffee making facility in the room, however room service is excellent. Useful also to remember that all prices for accommodation, food, room service etc does not include vat so be prepared for 20% onto the bill at checkout. Still great value for money, however!
