Good location, close to the tube station and Hyde Park. Good value. Probably one of the cheaper rooms you'll find in London.

Other than that you get what you pay for. The layout of the hotel is a little odd with bedrooms sqeezed into odd spaces. The rooms themselves are a little dated and the beds are ok. The en-suite bathrooms are small but adequate.

The room and bathroom were clean.

All in all this is a place to sleep and nothing more, so set your expectations.

I have been to London a number of times and happily stayed at larger hotels such as the Tara. Then my brother introduced me to Barry House. It's in an excellent location, the breakfast is quite good, the owners are helpful and pleasant, the rooms, while modest, are very clean and have everything needed to be comfortable. I find it wonderful value for the money. Also, as a woman alone, I feel safe in my room there. I recommend it now to all my friends who are headed London way. I think it's a real find.

If you want a well run family base of operations in a great location you would have to really work to beat this fine small B and B.

We have stayed at Barry House over a half dozen times since 1998. Each visit finds the building upgraded and improved. The rooms are comfortable, the price is reasonable and it is quiet. The family that runs it will go out of their way to make your visit a pleasant one. The few problems we had were speedily taken care of and when asked, their suggestions as to where to go or how to get there or what to see were spot on. They also helped get West End tickets with great seats and several times helped us to make transfers for as many at 10 people at a time. We have been here as a couple and with children and their families and with friends .

Paddington Rail Station is 3 blocks away and is where the trains to Heathrow are; as are the Bakerloo, Circle, District and Hammersmith lines. Across from Hyde Park, which is 3 blocks away, is the Central line at Lancaster Gate. Taxis pass every few minutes a half block away and bus stops are easily found.

I just checked out from Barry House Hotel. I stayed here several times during last 7 years, this time after a two years pause. I had nice experience every time, but this time I was really excited - there are new bathrooms for example (not in all the rooms yet, but there should be in all rooms by the next spring).
Rooms are rather small (not for me, but I am already used to average size of English budget hotels), but very clean and there is everything you need (soap, shampoo, hairdryer etc).
Breakfast is fine (eggs, ham, sausage, beans, toast, cereals, milk, butter, marmalade).
Manager of the hotel is nice and helpful.And last not least - you can reach Hydepark or Paddington Station by 3 minutes walk.

There is no lift I think and some rooms are on the 4th floor, the rooms and breakfast is simple, this is no Ritz. It is more a family run BB than a hotel - with all advantages and disadvantages.
