We are a retired couple who wanted a budget -price hotel reasonably centrally situated with close access to public transport. Whiteleaf ticked all these boxes ideally with 2 tube stations & bus-route with wide variety of shops & restaurants & with the bonus of Kensington Palace Gdns .Hyde Pk. being only a few minutes walkaway. That's the good bit; check-in desk displayed a notice saying 'back in 10 mins'. which lasted 30 and whilst waiting at reception, I noticed a pile of suitcases stacked behind the desk but with no attendant and the front-door permanantly open, anyone could have walked in and helped themselves. Not a good start. Room was small but basically serviceable, bathroom had no plug & towel-rail kept falling off the wall. Totally concur with recent correspondent re breakfast which was billed as 'continental' and was abysmal & disgusting & no-one from any continent would even consider eating there. A credit-card charge of 5% was demanded despite no prior notice of this and payment up-front was also the rule, so check your room first. I would also suggest that you take your valuables out with you, an item of mine went 'missing' during our stay of 2 nights. In conclusion, ideal for location, poor for care & quality & would only go again if desperate..
