“good location”

very convient for Paddinton station & tube. Yes the lifts are old & slow, yes there are creaky floor boards, but I managed to sleep through the night (which is rare for me). It was vey good value for money, all staff appeared friendly. It was clean where it mattered. There are plenty of places to pick up groceries nearby. We would stay again.

“Not bad, but worn out”

I stayed 4 nights in a studio apartment. The first thing I really appreciated is the size of the room which is really large for a budjet accomodation in London. One more advantage - a small kitchinette with all you may need during your stay. The stuff at Royal Court Appartments is very friendly and the last but not least - location is perfect. You may use both Lancaster Gate and Paddigton tube stations. I also used buses, because I love so much going by bus in London and it takes 20-30 min. to get to Picadilly circus.

Anyhow there were some inconveniences which made my stay not so good. I am not the first to remark that studio rooms need refurbishment (the man at the reception told me that there are no refurbished studio apartments). I cannot say it was dirty, but every piece of furniture, walls, bed etc seem worn out and faded. The room faced the street which was noisy. I was also suffering from excessive heat in the room. As the room was of good value and I did not spend much time there I tried not to pay attention to these drawbacks, but if I come to London for a longer stay I would rather find another place.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are very noisy

“A wonderful find & excellent value”

Reviews on Trip Advisor always help so when we have especially enjoyed a stay, I try to share what I have learned beyond what was posted so far. We stayed here twice, both on our way to India for 2 nights and again on our way home- could not have been happier with our choice. Both times we had a room that faced the back and had no problems with any noise from neighbors. The rooms are all individually done and there is a lot of room considering space in London can be really snug. We loved the free internet wifi in the lobby and it is a large enough area for a large tv with several sitting areas. Since we were traveling with another couple it was nice being able to visit here rather than in the rooms- although there was plenty of space there as well. The staff was great and the location had such easy access to the tube.
We had chosen to arrive here from the airport by using the Heathrow Connect (under half what the Heathrow Express costs) and both choices disembark at Paddington station. With the station to your back we just turned to the right and followed the road to Gloucester Terrace, (turning left) it was maybe a 10-12 min walk even pulling our luggage. There are quite a few places to eat near the station as others have mentioned, and several small grocery shops nearby,,, but what I hadn't seen mentioned was the Testco Express and Testco Market maybe a 20 min walk over on Queensway. We really liked that road and ended up there every evening- not only were there even more places to chose from for dinner, but a nice selection of shops and all the locals seemed to frequent the area. There were several routes so we varied how we went, but in essance it is parrallel to Gloucester and just seemed the perfect way to end the day.
The staff at the hotel were always helpful, the mini frig in all our units were excellent- really kept everything really cold- not those wimpy lukewarm models. We didn't cook but there was certainly enough there had we wanted to. But being close to a couple different tube lines plus the Paddington station was fantastic. It would definitely be my first choice any time we are in London again, we are hardly in our rooms when we travel so finding a good value, location and convenience- then plenty of space... this was perfect for us.

“We like staying here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We stayed at Royal Court Apartment for 3 nights in December and we were happy with our stay. Overall it was ok. There were 3 of us, me, my husband and daughter and we requested for a one bedroom apartment. The room was ok (room no 122), there was a comfortable double bed in the bedroom with extra bed outside. We were given the renovated room on the first floor right at the end of the building (we requested for this when we made our booking and it was fulfilled so yayy....) I must say it was a nice looking room, comfortable and very clean, especially the toilet, it was sparkling! It has a small kitchen with all the necessary amenities, a sofa and small dining table, a small flat screen tv which works fine and many channels. The staff were friendly and very helpful so we had no complains whatsoever. Except maybe the lift and the small corridor leading up to our room, its quite narrow and we had 3 big luggages so to carry them was quite a challenge. And they must do something with the lifts, its very noisy and kind of stuck for a few seconds before the door opened.

Wifi was free at the foyer so we were happy with that. The room was cleaned every day. The location was great too, only 2 minutes walk to Lancester Gate station although I knew there was another station nearby too, Paddington? Apart from that, there were a few grocery stores round the corner and a few restaurants as well. Oh.. Malaysian Tuk Din restaurant is within the vicinity too.

Overall, it was ok as we expected for this kind of accomodation and price. We dont mind to stay here again and recommend the hotel to others.

Room Tip: Ask for renovated room during booking.

“The room was a bit stuffy”

I stayed in a studio apartment for six nights. It was unrenovated so a bit dated and the colour displayed on the tv was green and purple. I did find the room quite hot and asked if I could turn the heat down, but there didn't seem to be an answer. The foyer was roomy enough and a good place to look at wifi, but obviously it would be great to have wifi in the rooms. It was close to some tube stops and buses and the staff were friendly. It was lovely having a kettle so I could make cups of tea and the kitchen facilities were fine for cooking a meal at night. It was also a bargain as I had booked in advance online. I'd like to see the rooms when they are fully renovated.
