“Great Location, Shame About the Dreadful Room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed here as part of a Groupon Voucher - it was fairly cheap and the saying you get what you pay for rings true with this hotel. I'll start off by saying it was great as parking was cheap and location was also handy right next to lancaster gate. The Steak Grill house opposite is also worth a visit! However, the decor is dated and its hard to tell from all the vibrant colours and fixings whether this place is actually clean or not. Nevertheless, we had a room with a black and white TV. The bed seemed quite small and the decor was dreadful. The bathroom was bearable. Honestly, we both couldnt bear to stay in the hotel. We had dinner as part of the package but opted to go across the road. I've stayed in some average hotels across the UK and Europe and sorry to say, but these have been better than this standard of hotel. If your looking for a clean (ish), great locations and friendly place to stay then this fits. Its not a romantic hotel or somewhere to relax. Its a very old place and the floors creak no end. The breakfast was ok and the staff were pleasant.
Health and safety was not something high on their agenda as when we came down to breakfast they had some ladders spread across the front desk and a guy at the top of them changing a light bulb. Not exactly great!

Room Tip: We can't comment on this. We had a room which touched with the main road.

“Friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed in a triple room with my sisters for an overnight stay and trip to the theatre. The room was old fashioned and definately could do with some modernisation. We were made to feel so welcome by the staff however .Nothing was too much trouble and the night porter even made us a sandwich at night when we came back from the theatre ,even though the kitchen had finishing serving dinner. We sat by a cosy fire in the lounge with our coffee and complimentary cake during the afternoon and were given a glass of wine due to the fact it was my sisters 50th birthday.which was such a thoughtful touch and most welcome ! There are no beverage making facilities in the bedroom which is a shame. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay largely due to the lovely staff. Breakfast was of good quality and hot.

I really don't know what I made of this hotel, we stayed for two nights, while I have nothing to complain about, I would probably try somewhere else if I were to go again...
On arrival we were thrilled to see how great the location is, straight off Lancaster Gate Tube Station (which is on the central line) and bang across from Hyde Park. On check-in we were surprised what prices were advertised behind the receptionist for a standard room the rate was £191, for the next upgrade was about £230 and the next up was £300+ for one night! At this point we thought "Ey, we're gonna be sleeping in paradise here!" but we were wrong, our room was dark and dingy, all we could see out of the window was a wall and drainpipes and rubble below us. We seemed to have a problem with the toilet too, it took three flushes to get rid of toilet paper! I can't complain on cleanliness of the room as that was all fine. The receptionist was great giving us directions to the show we were heading to.
The dining room is very uncomfortable, the tables are crammed together and there is no music, the decor in there isn't very nice either. On our first morning for breakfast we had to share a table with another couple - slightly awkward. Then on the second night we had dinner included, well we went about 8.45pm, and we were the only ones there, and there was no music - REALLY awkward.
On the second morning we had to wait for a table for breakfast but it was fine, but it shows the restaurant does need to be bigger. On check out the staff were lovely, offering to store our bags, although they seem to be really pushing everyone to write a review on here, something I feel they need to do after they've spent a bit of money the hotel.
Lovely stay overall though, but maybe that's just my love of London. Could have been worse, but could have been a LOT better.

“50th disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Stayed for my partners 50th, what a disappointment. This hotel is not a 3* hotel. If they got the 3rd star for the net curtains they could at least clean them. They were so dirty aand grey could not see through them. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room which I have had at guesthouses and 2* hotels in London. . If you have already booked ensure you request not to stay in room 335 it is tiny, dark, smells and there is mould all over the wall on the right hand side of the bed. The only good thing is they changed our room without hesitation, although as they were full I felt sorry for the people who did have to stay in it. This hotel is overpriced and you can stay in far better of quite a lot less. I booked it and was willing to pay more as the reviews were good I couldn't have been more room. I did not stay long enough to experience the hospitality.

Room Tip: not rm 335

“Average hotel, great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

My partner and I stayed for two nights b&b and had dinner one night. The room was a fair size and comfortable although slightly old-fashioned. (And there was no tea set!) Bathroom facilities, hot water etc., were fine too.
Our food was included in the room rate and was easy and delicious. The only thing is there was a rather awkward atmosphere in the dining room as it was very quiet and the tables are very close together - some music might have helped!
Staff were friendly and attentive, although a few were clearly still training - our receptionist was a little flustered, and at dinner when my boyfriend ordered the hamburger, the server thought he said beef bourguignon!
In our experience, the location was key to choosing the hotel - it's beside Hyde Park and just across the road from Lancaster Gate on the Central Line, which is perfect for going anywhere in the city.
To conclude, there's not a lot wrong with the London Elizabeth, but not a lot that would set it apart from any other hotel in London either. Fiercely average.

Room Tip: There are a lot of twisty stairs and the lift is VERY small - we were young and fit so we didn't...
