We were initially booked into the Edwardian but due to them having issues we were directed here instead. We were put in a standard room at the back (floor 2) which was really actually quite nice, obviously renovated. The shower was amazingly great, the location quiet. It was a little disconcerting to find a sweet and bottle top under the bed which were not ours. We were told by the front desk that the next night we would go to a junior suite on the 6th floor. (we had booked/paid for a deluxe double) so we thought this is pretty good. But no, we were given a deluxe double on the 5th floor the next day which was confusing, but what we paid for. I didn't want a room facing Leicester Square (and asked for that) but that is what we got. For the most part on the 5th floor it was quiet, so was fine. The room was larger with a faux oriental theme, but the bathroom was nowhere near as nice as the other and often flooded. Plus there were some obvious stains on the thinning carpet especially close to the bathroom of various colours. However the location can't be beat, so much is walkable. The service from the concierge was faultless. We were a little embarrassed as we ate in the restaurant one night and after we had a post-meal walk, were cornered by staff in the lobby as although we had given our room number, when we initially booked in, no one had asked for our Visa imprint. Somehow we felt that was our fault and I think we were needlessly embarrassed. The dinner meal though was very nice, and cannot fault it at all. The breakfast again really good but it was included in our package. One morning my husband came down before me and told staff he was waiting for me before ordering the hot breakfast. I arrived and we could not find or get the attention of staff at all so gave up and just selected the continental. So it was a mixed bag staying here. Again though, the location was perfect, a very short walk to most theatres, Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square.
