“Terrible Hotel, Terrible Service, Terrible Breakfast”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I have stayed at this hotel in January of 2012. I have never written a hotel review before, but feel it's my duty to humanity to create a review for Comfort Inn Hotel in King's Cross.
The hotel was generally very cramped, the passages where full of stairs which made getting to your room difficult.

The rooms itself was horrible. I complained at the front desk 3 consecutive days before they moved me to a newly renovated room.

This hotel has two types of rooms, the first type being old, full of mold, dirty, dusty and ridden with fleas. Honestly the most horrible place to stay.
The second type of room they have a decent, worth a four star rating, but it's a gamble you'll have to take if you choose to stay there.

The breakfast menu was "Boiled eggs and toast". Honestly!!!
My colleague dared to try their boiled eggs, and spent the rest of his day with cramps! I couldn't bring myself to trying the eggs.

Overall, it's a Terrible experience. Staff was unfriendly, and generally unhappy with the stay.
The bad part of it all is that it was pre-paid by my company, hence, I couldn't move to another hotel. I was actually contemplating on paying for another hotel myself just to get out of there... I dealt with it by only going there to sleep, and leaving as early as possible.

My advice to anyone, steer clear of this hotel. I certainly will...

“should have trusted reviews”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I am stuck in this dump for a week and when I say dump, never again will I ever stay at comfort inn. The room smells of damp to which the staff says they cant smell anything (as a smoker, if i can smell it, then theres a problem)

The staff barely speaks english - obviously eastern block low paid employees, night staff the guy looks like a bouncer and is very unfriendly.

No hot water so no showers, it better be fixed tonight - sorry but your 4 hour internet voucher doesnt cover no shower especially when the room looks to be about 100 years old.

Mattress is beyond old - I haven't seen stripped like that since I visited my late grandma.

Never again seriously. Dont trust this place at all - its horrid.

Room Tip: i dont know if there are good rooms but many are basement quality and dont have a lift and very narr...

“Small but nice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I stayed here just for one night as I was going to a party in the area.

The hotel is sweet, nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable but the room was small.

I did not spend much time in the room so it was not a big problem but would not recommend for a long stay.

Great of you need somewhere to crash near Kings Cross, which is a much nicer area than it used to be.

“The jekyll and hyde Hotel......... From Hell!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Hotel was booked by an agent, not our client or our company who both have a rule that we stay at 4 star. And yes this hotel has a 4 star rating so we thought "standard 4 star London fare" An assumption we will never make again.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Kingscross rail station, across a busy road.
Made from knocking 3-4 Victoria terraces together and then trying to squeeze in as many rooms as possible, this has the effect of creating a rabbit warren of corridors, strange angles, stairs and at least 6 fire doors before you get to your room.

My room 123 and my colleagues room 122 could only be described as tiny squalid dumps, decor that looks like it has not been changed since 1978, the overpowering smell of dust won its fight with the sickening smell of dampness, the old worn out double bed, carpets and scruffy "Norman Bates" bathroom made my skin crawl, I slept in my clothes and used the shower once.

Walls where so thin that the young lady next door who obviously was booking the room by the hour, kept me awake until the early hours with the same noises for each of her "friends" 10 out of 10 for consistency.

Breakfast is served in the basement cafe style room, I say breakfast, let me explain, all it is is a croissant, toast and jam or the chefs special "a boild egg" needless to say we gave up after I ate one of the eggs and spent the rest of the day in the toilet.

After 3 days of hell and daily complaints, they managed to find us some of the new rooms, they where clean, new, small but twice the size of the old rooms. It also explained how they got their 4 star status...... What a swindle.

As most of my readers know I "say it as it is" shame on the people who gave them the 4 star rating and shame on the owners for renting out such squalid rooms on the back of a few good rooms.

We live and we learn............. NO COMFORT AT THE COMFORT INN!

Room Tip: Demand one of the new rooms and refuse to handover your credit card or deposit until you have seen t...

“Good value near main line stations & Eurostar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

The Comfort Inn Kings Cross (St Chad's Street, as there's another nearby) is a useful place to spend the night if you have a later arrival or early departure from Kings Cross, Euston or St Pancras International (Eurostar). Like most of the relatively low cost hotels in the area it's made by knocking together a number of old houses, and so the rooms vary in size and shape. One slight criticism - the windows were single glazed, although the street itself is very quiet.

For the price and location, it couldn't really be faulted - the bed was OK, the TV had Freeview (although a poor signal meant not all channels were available, and non-UK users might miss having any international programmes), there was tea/coffee equipment in room, the bathroom was fine and the continental breakfast was edible, with warm hard boiled eggs and rolls as well as toast. Only the fruit was below par as just tinned peaches!

If you're there more than a night, it's worth knowing that there's a rack of "Boris bikes" (public cycle hire) on the street just outside the hotel.
