“Our 2011 Summer stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

My wife and I enjoyed staying at The Capital on three occasions during the 2011 English Summer. One stay included us hosting a cocktail party for our friends and this was beautifully done.
We look forward to visiting England in 2012 and will again be staying at The Capital on our visits to London.
The Capital Hotel does make you most welcome.

“Can't wait to return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights with dinner on the second night to celebrate a special occasion. The room was excellent - very comfortable large bed, very comfortable chairs, a good wardrobe and a well appointed bathroom. The reception staff were polite and friendly. The location of the hotel is excellent - practically next to Harrods, though on a smart residential street, and within easy walking distance of Hyde Park. We had dinner on the second night (four people). The table was near the window and the food and service were brilliant. There was a delay when we ordered coffee in our room from room service; however the order was provided without charge to apologzie for the delay. We had breakfast served in our room the next morning and this was absolutely fine. I would highly recommend this hotel and would love to return.

“Not as great as expected from other reviews”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

We went to stay for a Saturday night to make the most of a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Having read the great reviews here and having found a good deal we had great expectations.
Our room was spacious but showing some signs of age, especially the bathroom. It was nicely appointed and had everything one could want. What let it down was the breakfast the next morning. A continental one was included in the price. First there awas no table for us and we were asked to wait in the bar. At least coffee could have been offered. Once we were shown to a table it took quite some time for coffee to arrive. We got a small caffetiere which was enough for 1.5 cups between two people. The bread and pastries were served on a small tray, again fit for one person, certainly not two. We are not huge eaters and other single guests were served the same amount. Another meagre round of coffee was provided upon request.

The staff must have had a bad day. They were argueing in the kitchen.
In summary other hotels have given us more personal service especially at breakfast in at least as nice surroundings for not much more. So a bit disappointed and would rather try something else next time.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am so sorry and disappointed that your stay was anything but perfect. We have let ourselves down on your breakfast service and I apologise, although there are certain times when we are very busy in the restaurant we would always hope to seat guests in the bar and offer them coffee and even their breakfast if they would prefer to have it here rather than wait. If you change your mind and would like to return I would be grateful if you could contact me directly as I would very much like to handle your booking personally.

Kind regards

“Sunday lunch is immense”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

I stayed at the Capital a month or so ago and felt obliged to write and say what a great experience my wife and I had. The service was impeccable, the rooms spotless and the location was second to none. The highlight, however, had to be the Sunday roast, exquisitely rare beef carved at the table with a delightfully picant horseradish sauce. I recommend the Capital to anyone who is looking for a hotel that provides a personal touch, that is centrally located and that houses one of the best restaurants in London.

Thank you so much for your review. Sunday lunch is one of my personal favourites and I am so pleased that you enjoyed it. There is nothing better than some delicious roast beef! I am also delighted that you and your wife liked the hotel, Justyna our Head Housekeeper works tirelessly to ensure very high standards and our location right next to Harrods and Harvey Nichols is fantastic for those who love to shop. I hope that you will return to stay with us again, please let me know when you make your plans as I would very much like to meet you.

“A perfect location for a special occasion”

I had been to The Capital Hotel for cocktails last year and was already impressed by the welcome I received in the lobby as well as the atmosphere and service in the bar. So when I wanted to find a centrally located restaurant for a family celebration of my father's 90th birthday, I chose The Capital Hotel Restaurant. The staff could not have been more accommodating. The service was attentive but not intrusive and every course was a delight. Thank you for making an important family occasion such a success. We'll be back!

Thank you very much for your kind feedback. I am so pleased that your father had a good birthday party here. As a family run business there is nothing that we love more than to look after families. Our bar is very popular and I am delighted that having enjoyed this area of the hotel we tempted you to the restaurant on your next visit. I hope that you will all have many happy memories of the day and we all wish a belated happy birthday to your father. I hope to welcome you back soon, please let me know when you are next visiting as it would be a pleasure to meet you.
