“TERRIBLE!!! DON'T GO THERE!”

This is not a hotel, it is a hostel. The pictures on the website are nothing like the rooms in the real world. Furthermore the staff was rude. We had booked two rooms next to each other, because we were traveling as a family, but we were given rooms in two different buildings. The rooms were so bad, that we checked out again right away, and found another hotel down the street.

“Clean, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

This was the second time staying at Hotel 43. Both times it was very clean and the breakfast is good (toast, croissants, eggs, ham, cereal, cheese, etc). The staff are friendly and the location is great. The only reason I would not give this hotel a full rating is because of the lift. It was out of service for 2 days during our visit and we were on the fifth floor. Although tiring, this wasn't a major issue but it could be a major problem for anyone not able to climb a few flights of stairs. This also happened on my previous stay at this hotel so it seems it may happen regularly. A nice touch was the animal-shaped towels prepared by the housekeeping staff. Very cute.

“Great location, but not much else!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011 via mobile

Upon arrival we found an extremely small twin room with ensuing bathroom. Yet this was to be expected considering the budget price of the hotel. The girl on the reception desk was quite dull and unhelpful and she didn't speak very good English.

At night time we had trouble sleeping due to a constant buzzing mechanical noise and after two nights asked to be moved to another room. We were moved from then fifth floor down to the third floor and this noise was still there. Eventually we had to buy ear plugs in order to sleep.

Beds were clean but the one pillow we were each given was awfully flat and lumpy and the mattress was extremely hard and uncomfortable.

The free breakfast was very ordinary. Meats were left out in the air uncovered and there were no tongs to pick up toast or other food items, which was very unhygienic.

I will not stay at this hotel again and I certainly would not recommend it.

“disappointing and unfinished”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

Good: location for tube/hyde park/ shops/food, room size, heating, window size, block out blinds, wifi, comfortable bed

Bad: dirty bed, dirty linen, dirty furniture, unfinished kitchenette (no tiles), toiletries not refilled, no phone from suite to reception, unfriendly reception staff, bad coffee and breakfast, construction material in hallways, building noise travels through walls and ceilings, fridge didn't open properly, microwave door needs repair, elevator doesn't work all the time, no management available when requested, only given email address, paint dust came off walls and stained clothes, rusty shower caddie, electrical points loose in wall

Room Tip: ask to see your room before you pay and check it over.

“not enough space to swing a rat let alone a cat. Not a place to stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Booked a triple room for a city trip. The room was a single with a double bed and a single bed squeezed in with only 4 inches of space around the beds. The linen was dusty, the rooms were noisy - you could hear the guests in the other rooms on the toilet. The air conditioner was not working. The TV remote was not working, there was no toilet paper. The staff were polite but not very helpful. The breakfast was bad. The only positive was the location of the hotel. At £120 per night, not cheap. I would not recommend this hotel even if you desperate

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel
