“Not up to standard”

We stayed here for 1 night before catching the eurostar. I usually go for travelodge when I want good clean comfortable accommodation that is cheap. The hotel only managed to fulfill one of my criteria, it was cheap enough, but that was were the usual comparisons ended. It was not a clean hotel nor was our room comfortable, the bed linen was grubby, when I sat on the bed my bum was nearly touching the floor it sagged so much! The cleanliness of the bathroom left much to be desired and the staff were rude when I asked for an extra pillow, saying they didnt have any! I requested a quiet room as we had an early start, granted it is difficult in London to give you a quiet room but our room was on the first floor, opposite the bus and train station, and the door to the lift so quiet it definately was not. I would think twice before staying here again

Room Tip: do not select room 101

We stayed for two nights in early Feb 2012.
Check in was a breeze and via the machine in the foyer.
The room we were first given was on the first floor looking right on to euston garden and the bus depot.
The noise was not good and due to the floor level, people on the top deck of passing buses could look in as they stopped at the traffic lights.
We asked to be moved and the very helpful guy at the desk, asked us to come back in an hour and to see what rooms were available after the cleaners had finished.
After a nice drink at the euston flyer pub just down the road we returned and were given a basement room.
This room was brilliant, very quite, clean and perfect for a London hotel with an excellent location.
Euston station is a stones throw away.
Would stay again and recommend the hotel.
For breakfast we headed out to the Pinner Cafe in Charlton Street, about a 3-5 minutes walk behind the hotel. This small but excellent cafe does a full breakfast menu, the full English with toast and tea was great value at £6, didn't eat again till the evening!

“Wrong Room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Booked a family room online arrived on Sunday the 22nd of January after an 18 hour journey.

Checked into a room, settled, went down to reception to ask, was that a family room? No it wasn't! Can it be switched? No it can't! Wait for the manager the next day.

Waited for the manager next day, manager didn't show. Reception suggests on line complaint. which I made only on departure. Response sorry, nothing we can do, we don;t make distinctions on room types, we give you any room that we deem suitable for you.

Some certain numbers come to mind....4-1-9!!

Room Tip: Be certain of what you are given! Unfortunately though, you would have already paid

“Good value for money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed here at the end of August 2011 with my boyfriend for 2 nights. We got a very good deal through superbreak and having spoken to people who have stayed here before, decided on this one. It is about a 5 minute walk from Kings Cross station and directly opposite Euston station and underground (although we didnt use this underground station, as there was more lines from kings cross) there are a few pubs and restaurants around the area although we didnt use any. Rooms were quite small, but the bed was comfy and shower was nice. Don't really need a big room when you're only sleeping/bathing in it. We were located on the ground floor opposite the main road, so for the first night I didnt sleep very well as it is on the main bus route, but the second night, being so tired from walking round london all day, I slept ok. If we stayed again I would maybe ask for a room higher up, or on the opposite side if there are any available.

Staff were pleasant and rooms were clean. One downside of the hotel was that there was no left luggage service at the hotel so we had to pay £8 to leave it at kings cross.

Overall, clean hotel, good value for money and great location.

Room Tip: Lower floors have a lot of noise from outside.

“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Paid £25 for the night, ok the rooms are basic but clean and tidy. The room (30) was on the ground floor at the back of the hotel , so was quiet. Self service check in and card drop off on exit meant never actually spoke to anyone with regard to this stay as booked on the Internet - a sign of the future !

Room Tip: Room away from the main road
