We stayed 3 nights in May 2009, had a room on the top floor (actually there's only the ground floor and the 1st floor). Nice big room, clean, nicely decorated and well equipped. Bathroom also very good with modern big shower (no bath) with good water pressure. One morning there was no hot water but a quick call (dial 0 from the phone in the room) had it sorted in literally 5 minutes. The mattress was a bit too soft for us so we told the staff at breakfast time and within 20 mins, just as we were going out for the day, they were there with a new mattress - and that was a lot better. Breakfast is included - and that is very good, and there's a free newspaper (independant). The hotel rooms are in a separate building from the restaurant (toby carvery) and key card access is required to access the building and also to access the 1st floor, with normal key access to each room, so its reasonably secure. Parking is on site, plentiful, and free. We didn't use the acr from arrival to departing - we walked 10 mins down the road and caught a bus into town - buses come every 5-10 mins. We ate in the restaurant the first night - excellent meal with ice cream, total cost £12 for 2. The room was excellent value - less than £100 for 3 nights, including breakfasts is very hard to beat, and at that price what we git far exceeded expectations. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble, so top marks to them. OK it doesn't have the convenience of being right down in the centre - but it does have the convenience of free parking, and its quieter, and its not very far off the end of the motorway, so on balance I'd rather stay here than spend more than twice as much to stay in the town. What I'd like to see.... A bigger , firmer bed (like Premier Inn's), all the Freeview channels (no bbc3 bbc4 but there is sky-1 and sky sports 1 2 3 - normal innkeepers lodge policy i gather) WiFi is advertised by not free - it's provided by 'the cloud' - i didn't use it
