After the shock disappointment at Liverpool Airport of our flight being cancelled, we were very fortunate to get a double room at The Gateway Lodge. Ideally situated close to the airport, less than a 30 minute walk, we were impressed with the standard and cleanliness of both the lodge and our room. Comfy double bed was just what we needed to de-stress. Owner helpful with booking taxi and info, however DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME EATING at the nearby PREMIER INN...Absolutely DISGUSTING service. Not the Lodge owner's fault either, for suggesting, as we were her 1st guests to try there apparently and hopefully, the last. No meals or breakfast at the Lodge during the christmas period was the only disappointment of our stay, but it didn't spoil too much, and we did get to spend a full day in Liverpool using the bus service from just outside the Lodge. Would definitely stay here again and that's without a cancelled flight.

My partner and I found this B&B for an overnight stay prior to flying out of John Lennon airport. The lodge is less than two miles from the airport, so it made for a very convenient stopover. The other bonus is the lodge provides secure off-road car parking in a compound to the side of the house at reasonable rates. This can prove beneficial to escape those high prices at airport long-stay car parks. Very clean, comfortable and warm, and would definitely recommend.

However, I was a little concerned to be informed, when we turned up the evening prior to our flight, that the confirmed breakfast booking was not available, as 'breakfast is 'not provided over the Christmas period.'' Also, be warned that if you decide to sleep in, you might not have any hot water for your shower, which was case for my partner the morning of our flight.

Other than those two minor problems, it was a pleasant stay and we would definitely consider staying at Gateway Lodge again if we fly out of Liverpool in the future.

Stayed here as my partner had to catch an early morning flight from the airport. What a great find this B&B is. The rooms are immaculately clean and well equipt, large powerful shower, good plasma tv etc. You can walk to the airport (10min), there is secure parking, the staff are so friendly and if you want a night out in Liverpool, catch the bus at the end of the road (every 20mins) to the centre. My partner manages a 5 star guest house in the lakes and was impressed with the standard of our room and we couldnt believe the value for money this place offers. You wont get better value at the larger chains.

From the staff to the location to the rooms, i can't fault this guest house.
From the second we walked through the door, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The room's were very well heated (which is a major point for winter) the staff were polite and very helpful.
I would reccomend the Gateway lodge to anyone who fancies a weekend break!
