My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for friday and saturday night in February.
We'll start with the good points
-The girls in the restaurant are great, shout out to Marney (I hope this is spelt right!) who served us both nights and was great. The girls always had a smile on their face and if you wanted to they had a little chat with you, recommending places to go and things to do.
The food in the restaurant was really very good for a budget hotel, we ate there both nights and had their breakfast one morning too... excellent value and quality.
Now for the bad points, which unfortunately, are alot more than the good
-The hotel is in the renovated "Albert Dock" area of the city. The website didn't mention anything about just how much noise there would be, due to the number of bars around the area, we had one to the left and one to the right. On the Friday night we weren't able to get to sleep until 2am, and Saturday (when we were already very overtired and quite annoyed with the previous nights sleep) , it was closer to 3am. If you are a light sleeper, or like to sleep at all, I wouldnt reccomend this hotel. We did have a room that faced the courtyard overlooking the costa coffee and beatles museum however this didn't seem to block any noise at all.
Upon checking out the man on reception asked "was everything okay" i said no and explained the above, he looked very shifty and mumbled something about us being on a higher floor (we were only actually about 1/2 way up the hotel, and thought this would have given us LESS noise not more). He then gave us our carpark ticket and basically looked at us as if to say "is that all" ? I guess the "Good Night Guarantee" was conveniently forgotten here?!
Also, a minor couple of points, our room was FREEZING, and when we turned the air con on (not even at the highest) it became unberarable hot, there seemed to be no happy medium.
Secondly, there is a lack of decent lighting in the room, there is a strip of spotlights above the desk/dresser and then 2 tableside lamps, and the bathroom light.
We were very very dissapointed with this hotel, given that we have stayed in so many Premier Inn's before this really wasn't up to scratch. The front of house staff were miserable and felt like we were bothering them checking in and out , not great when you've just travelled 5 hours to get to their hotel !
I guess we will await one of their standard, copied and pasted responses....
