“An absolute joke...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012 via mobile

Firstly, the location is bad; a long walk through a slightly rough bit of the city to get here from the city centre.

The room is okay, pretty small with a tv that cuts out and twin beds an inch apart from each other but tidy nonetheless.

It gets worse, there is a dress code of smart clothes worn in the hotel, a strange snobbiness when the hotel overlooks a derelict old council housing tower block with broken windows.

Anyway my main concern with this hotel is that we paid a stupid amount of money to have somewhere to sleep in Liverpool and it is impossible to sleep. I am writing this at 11 o clock, I should be asleep but unfortunately they are having a disco downstairs which is literally shaking the floor. Listening to 'I've had the time of my life' blaring through the speakers while contemplating a long train journey in the morning is not a good experience.

To be fair I am writing this from the free wifi that the hotel have provided but apart from that services do not reach any kind of standard. I paid money for a place to sleep and they failed to provide that. I've just come from macdonalds in Manchester, less expensive and a much Much better quality.

As I post this an abba medley is blasting into the room, 'thank you for the music'. Top marks for irony but a low score for EVERYTHING else.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I am very sorry to hear that you felt the location of the hotel to be bad for your needs, the hotel is some 2.4 miles form the city centre, just 5 minutes in a taxi set in a very tranquil area overlooking Sefton Park.

The hotel currently does not have a clothing policy around any area of the hotel.

The room was situated above our busy function suite and I can completely understand that this would cause disruption, if you choose to stay at the hotel in the future please do inform us of this should this happen again and we will do our very best to move your room.

Kind Regards

“Better than excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We were married at the Alicia Hotel in January 2012 and had quite a big group of overseas guests staying there before our wedding. All of the guests only had good things to say about the hotel staff and the service they experienced. Nothing is too much trouble for the team at the Alicia.

The night before we married we had dinner at the hotel. What started off as a dinner for 6 very quickly became a dinner for more than 12 as friends drifted in and we added on table after table to our original 6 seater table. The staff were tremendous and nothing fazed them.

Our wedding day was awesome. Every member of staff we came into contact with that day was professional, friendly and efficient. The care and effort the Alicia team took to make our day effortlessly smooth was an experience we will never forget.

All 88 of our guests remarked on how helpful the staff are and how professionally our day was managed. The food was superb and the hotel decor is welcoming and comfortable.

Our wedding function rooms were beautifully appointed and turned around for each part of our celebration in such quick time our day flowed with ease.

Thank you to everybody at the Alicia Hotel, you are an incredible team.

Room Tip: We were in the bridal suite which is a huge room. If you can afford it go for this room, it is supe...

“a pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

The Alicia is situated about 2.5 miles outside Liverpool city centre in a quiet area .We had very secure car parking at the rear with electric gates on the carpark
We stayed overnight and had a very pleasant stay-the room although small was well equipped ,with TV and tea coffee making facilities. The bathroom although slightly dated with a shower over bath, was very clean. Our bed was very comfortable. We had initially found the room cold which was sorted quickly by the very helpfull staff. We arrived in darkness and in the morning were surprised to find a large patio-garden area at the rear, would be very nice in summer. Due to a wedding party we found the restaurant closed. Initially we drove into the city centre but found parking difficult ,so we came away and found an excellent Indian restaurant called the Royal Tanduri on the Widnes road not far from the hotel.
In the morning we were particuarly impressed by the excellent serve yourself breakfast with fruit, cerials, toast full English, croissants etc, seved in a palacial dining room.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on the 16th January. I booked through late rooms therefore at a reduced rate. It was value for money based on what I had paid, however, I would have been disappointed had I paid the full rate.

The room was comfortable.

No blinds in the bathroom which looked out onto Sefton Park. Had to shower in the dark. I had read on a previous review that this had been a problem and accepted that this must be the norm when my room didn't have one. I mentioned this on checkout and the receptionist said that he would make the relevant people aware.

I dined in the restaurant on my first night. No atmosphere whatsoever and deathly silent. Food was bland too.

I would stay again but I will try other hotels in the Area first.

Thank you for your feedback.

May I thank you for your comments in relation to the blind in the bathroom. We have now reviewed the net we had originally put up and agree completely that it was to thin, and have since replaced with a full black out blind.

The restaurant has now undergone a complete transformation with brand new floor & furniture which creates a lovely ambience.

I do hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

Kind Regards

“Alicia Hotel - New Years Eve Package”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

4 of us (2 rooms) stayed at the hotel on the 31st December 2011, we paid for the rooms and also the New Years Eve all inclusive package.

We can not recommend the hotel enough. It's in a nice area (Sefton Park), 5-10 minutes drive to the city centre. The exterior of the hotel is really nice especially with the blue lights and the glass conservatory. All the communal rooms are lovely and well decorated, lovely bar with log burning fire. The staff are very pleasant and couldn't do enough for you.

The NYE's package is excellent and excellent value for money we thought. The 7 course meal was lovely and the all inclusive bar was much better than expected. The staff were on hand the whole night ensuring everyone had a good time and couldn't do enough for you. The courses were served fast and constant and the drinks were at your request.

Would certainly stay here again and highly recommend the NYE's package. Hopefully book again for Next Year !!

Thank you for a great time.
