If you are looking for a budget hotel near the station then this is it. lees tan 5 min from lime st station. Don't expect much, typical 2 star hotel, Bar prices very reasonable, continental breakfast, No phone in the room or a desk but a huge TV with freeserve channels. Its under new management and redecoration at present. I stayed there 2 year ago and it was full of the dregs of humanity. This time it was quite pleasant.
The shower was hot bed comfy but if you want frills go to the holiday inn in st Johns market, at over twice the price!

I was disconcerted by some of the reviews of The Lord Nelson but it is undergoing a bit of a re-vamp and maybe not all the rooms were up to scratch. My double room was clean and tidy. The staff were helpful especially the breakfast lady who was constantly topping up the continential breakfast, as the hotel was full at that time! It was a pleasant stay.

I felt like I "took a chance" by booking Lord Nelson, considering a lot of poor reviews. As I had to wait for 20 minutes to check in, waiting for the clerk to finish speaking on the phone, I thought "bummer...".

However. My room (no. 224, single room) was actually pretty nice.

The staff was helpful when I had some questions, so my impression of Lord Nelson improved throughout my Liverpool weekend.

The hotel is located right next to the Lime street station. Excellent!

A little minus for the carpenters/construction workers who started working (not too loud, but I'm a light sleeper) at 8 o'clock in the morning. (I'm not sure if they were working on the hotel or the attached facilities).

I didn't eat breakfast, so I don't know how that was.

Lord Nelson is a good and cheap hotel in the centre of Liverpool just 50 meters from the central Lime street station. The personnel is willing and polite. It is clean and considering room price and location it is a very good choice for those going to Liverpool for a business 3-4 days trip.
