“Fine base for a weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

The Campanile was exactly what I expected - a clean and average-priced hotel which was fine as a base to stay for a night or two in Liverpool, pretty much the same as a Travelodge or Premier Inn.

The hotel is based right at Kings Dock and so is only a 5 mins walk from the Liverpool Echo Arena and Albert Dock, which is brilliant for restaurants and bars. The Liverpool One area is about 10mins walk away, and the city centre slightly further. There are a large number of hotels in the docks area and this one is fine to stay at if your there for the weekend. Staff were friendly, beds were comfy, tea and coffee in the rooms and all the usual you would expect.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel have a view across the Dock/Mersey

“Passable!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I stayed here with a friend for a night out around town and as a bolt hole and a shower it's ok. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting gold taps and marble, but it wasnt what I'd call cheap and for the money paid I was hoping it wouldn't be quite so hostal-esque.
Coupled with the most unhelpful male receptionist I have ever encountered, the possibility of a return by me is slim to non-existant. It's such a shame as the position of the hotel is ideal and the rooms at the back look out onto the Queens dock which was great.
Stay here if the Dolby next door is full.

Room Tip: Back facing rooms have the advantage of a view that's not your drab room!

“Great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Came to liverpool for the liverpool-manu game so I only needed a place to stay for one night. The hotel's clean, simple, warm. All u need really. There's free wi fi and good range of tv channels. free parking and decent, though a bit limited, menu. Really hard to match for 45 pounds a night. People at the hotel are kind and helpful. Will surely stay here in the future

“You Get What You Pay For”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Stayed here when attending a function in Chapel Street. Just about convenient for Liverpool One but needed a taxi to get to evening destination. Agree with other reviewers that more of a Motel than a Hotel and the rooms are in need of modernisation as bits were missing here and there. But it all worked.

Could not fault the staff though who were very helpful. The lady on reception Saturday evening (14/1/12 ) deserves a mention as she was exceptional helping ourselves and other guests to get taxis promptly. Pity I didn't get her name.
I suppose its best summed up by "cheap and cheerful with a free car park". Can't see the point in paying for luxury if all you want is a bed for the night.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the Mersey.

“What you would expect, nothing more nothing less”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Stayed here for work, it's a bit tired and certainly basic - but had no problems during the stay. My room was ground floor looking onto the carpark and windows didn't look like they'd be hard to break into, but as said no problems at all - feels more like a motel than a hotel. Didn't go to breakfast so can't comment and as booked through work can't comment on value. Wouldn't necessarily be the best location if you were visiting Liverpool for a weekend, a walk along the dual carriageway, but certainly convenient for conferences at the convention centre. Essentially, the definition of average, no surprises (good or bad).
