“a bit grim!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

I booked this last minute for a shopping trip to liverpool so I wasn't expecting too much. The appearance of the hotel is quite tired and miserable looking but the room was clean and better than imagined. Its location is quite out of the way and even the taxi driver hadn't heard of the hotel and told us it was a dodgy area. The staff were ok. One of them did fall asleep near to us however and started snoring during our breakfast at around 9am and was then told by another staff member to go to bed! The breakfast was ok. Quite a bit of choice and the dining room was clean and comfortable.Overall I would not say it was value for money.

“Excellent Stay!!!!”

My partner and I stayed at the Regent Maritime Hotel for a last minute weekend break. We had been in to Liverpool City Centre shopping and enjoying the cultural aspects the city has to offer and wanted to stay somewhere near enough to the city centre without the city centre price! Immediately upon arrival the Manageress Shirley was welcoming and showed us to our room which was fairly basic but immaculately clean. TV, tea and coffee making facilities were available and there was a large welcoming lounge area attached to the bar which we were invited to make use of.The staff could not have been more helpfull and the breakfast was excellent and cooked exactly as requested. All in all a very pleasant stay and we will be returning. Thanks to Shirley and staff

“Fine for a budget hotel near Liverpool but could improve”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2011

We stayed for one night whilst going to a football match then meeting friends so were just looking for somewhere to lay our heads for the night. The Hotel is in a very run down part of Liverpool - actually Bootle - but had it's own car park which was a bonus. The rooms were tired looking but were clean and comfortable. The reception area was dingey and uninviting. However, it was the attitude of the staff that amazed us. They were all scruffily dressed. We asked for more soap as we had one tiny already used bar in our room upon arrival - that didn't arrive so when we asked again we were told that they would "have to open up another room" to get it us (which we insisted they did). When we checked in the woman on reception couldn't see the computer due to having forgotten her glasses so didn't know if we'd paid or not and when I paid the bill, they were unable to give me a receipt due to the printer being broken so hand wrote me one in red pen! Everything was too much trouble. However breakfast was good and the hotel was half the price of those in the City Centre and was a five minute taxi journey away from the centre so well placed.

Room Tip: Cheap, adequate but not so cheerful!

“very pleasant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

Although this is not the most ideally located hotel me and my stepson found the staff extremly friendly and helpful. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable and breakfast was reasonable. For the money it was good value and we will be staying again now we know the staff.
