We had booked a Superior room through a group booking, which was supposed to be at a 'special rate'but we established later it was more like a regular rate. For a 'Superior' room, it was dark, (Rm 525), everything was cheap, beds, bathroom and fittings. Even the loo roll was cheap. We booked a Superior double, but the bed was a standard double bed, when we had been told it was a kingsize bed. The view from the window was of the hotel behind us and very limited. The shower dribbled and ran hot and cold. We stayed over a very cold weekend and no attempt was made to leave the heating on, so at night and in the morning the rooms were freezing as the air conditioning went off early and did not come on again until I think 6.0am. Bar drinks were very expensive, giving the impression that 'we are here to rip you off'. The wine list would be ok if they had half of it available! Breakfast, if a Premier Inn is 10 out of 10, then this was 4 out of 10. No fruit available, otherwise all was pretty standard for a corportate hotel. I asked for poached eggs, which I was told I could. After 20 minutes I had to threaten to go into the Kitchen and cook them myself to get them, then they took three minutes.
We had booked a group dinner in the evening. DON'T DO THIS! The food was really poor quality and most of us had gone for the Beef Roast. It was not possible to eat the beef, it was so dry, overcooked, cold and tougher than boot leather. No Yorkshires and awful vegitables. All no doubt prepared and cooked hours before.
What was the best side of our stay? The staff were polite and as helpful as they could.
We were eventually moved to a suite on the top floor (Rm 646). This was much better, but still everything was made cheaply. The view of Liverpool was great, but as the room has two large plate glass windows and it was freezing, again we could not get the room a comfortable temperture due to the timing the air con went off.
Overall a disappointing stay.
