Le petit hotel is not on the nicest street in Lincoln and from the outside it it doesn't promise much but once you enter it is a whole different story.

The downstairs is a tastefully decorated bar and restaurant (which I recommend - the food was delicious) and you are shown straight to your room with no need to queue and check in.

The room was simple and elegant (without being beige and bland) with flat screen tvs and great views of the cathederal. The biggest surprise however was the bathroom where there was a mamouth free-standing bath - far exceeding what i's expect in a room of this price.

The service was superb - friendly and helpful and I can't wait to return!

Despite it's name, this is actually a guest house. Recently taken over and refurbished, it is tastefully decorated in a minimalist style.
On arrival we were escorted to our room; beautiful view of the Cathedral from our window. We had chosen the excellent luxury king suite, with en suite jacuzzi, for a very competitive rate (no hot water from wash basin). Nicely furnished, with plasma screen TV and fresh flowers in the room. However, on reading the welcoming letter discovered that it was a strictly non-smoking hotel, despite the fact we had booked a smoking room. We politely queried this with the receptionist and within the hour the proprietor was knocking on our door to advise that the booking company had made a mistake; we would have to smoke outside the hotel or face a £250 fine debited from our credit card.
Breakfast can only be eaten in your room, but we did not feel the continental breakfast offered good value for money.
There is a licensed bar downstairs, and the remaining downstairs area is being converted into the Budda Bar Restaurant, due for opening mid February 2007.
The location, although ideal for both the Cultural and Cathedral Quarter, proved somewhat troublesome during the wee hours. We were woken at 02:30 hours by a gang of students, who had decided to partake in a half hour long snowball fight right outside the hotel. Only to be expected, when you consider that the hotel is virtually opposite Lincoln University Campus. So, if you are after a quiet stay, an undisturbed sleep away from your children, we would advise staying in a different area away from the Campus and student quarters.
