Had a brilliant night here menu was awesome the bar was friendly and old country. Would highly recommend for those who are after a very fun different experience.

went on saturday, i was in a party of 7, had to send the steak back , asked for blue/rare and arrived well done. the veg arrived in dribs and drabs throught the meal, not everyone got what they ordered, the sauce (an extra £3.00! each) arrived as we were finishing our meal. hardly anyone in the dining room but they cramped us around a small table, could have easily brought an extra table.
will not be visiting again.

We have just returned from our stay.
The room was less than basic, very musty and smelly and the wallpaper was hanging off the walls whilst the shower was covered in mould. With the exception of Emma behind the bar and the little waitress in the restaurant the staff were most un-friendly and we felt we were in-conveniencing them by being there.
The food was pretty awful too. The chef has clearly no idea at all when it come to sauces or presentation. The very tired veg was so over cooked it had no colour, the chips were also refried more than once and the potatoes they tried to pass off as lyonnaise were a very poor attempt of what appeared to be sort of a bad dauphinoise potatoes. We were asked if everything was ok and we told them it was not but nobody cared so I don't know why they bothered asking. The whold experience was pretty awful and a complete waste of money. The service and accommodation are the poorest we have seen in a long time!!!!!!

Recently had a meal here,a birthday treat,some treat,meat was only okay,veg was undercooked and virtually tasteless,meal took nigh on forty minutes to prepare,most of this time was spent in the company of a large family with agitated tots.On the night there was nobody else dining indoors,yet they placed us adjacent to this large family.The George is a very nicely setout hostelry,but the service and the quality of the food for over £40 spent left a lot to be desired leaving one feeling mugged.
