This is nice bed and breakfast in uphill Lincoln. The breakfast is very good. The rooms are a little tired, as are the bathrooms. But for the price, it actually offers good value.
Look out for the rather odd letter from a couple in the hall way

We stayed just one night at the Carline, and must admit I'm glad it wasn't more. The hosts are wonderful, very welcoming and enthusiastic, especially at breakfast. However, we were rather disappointed with the room. I will acknowledge that this place is quite cheap, but I would gladly pay an extra £10 and have a better quality room. We could only really get 4 channels on the TV, the room nearly boiled us during the night. However, it was the cheapness of the bathroom which really grated on me; the shower in particular was not a welcoming experience, and the bed was far from a standard size. My partner is used to beds being a little too short for him, but at 5' 8'' it was shocking that I was too tall for the bed in the room. It was also tiresome to encounter so many signs warning me not to smoke; it began to feel like the walls were nagging me! I think the owners would do better to spend some time giving this place a facelift to match their hospitality.

This was our second stay at the Carline Guest House.

The owners are very friendly and they serve up an excellent and very filling breakfast. Great location, close to the cathedral and the right side of steep hill!

If you like a good ole fashioned English B&B you cannot go wrong with the Carline

Great guesthouse, a short walk to Lincoln Cathedral and the Cathedral Quarter, a lovely part of Lincoln. The room was great and spotless, breakfast was very good and the owners Barry and Jackie were great hosts.
