We were able to check in early (by prior arrangement) and spend the day with friends. Warm and flexible welcome. We had a lovely cooked breakfast complete with optional black pudding. The hosts do their best to tailor the breakfast to meet the guests' needs.
There are lots of leaflets on things to do in the area. The castle and cathedral are easily accessible, as are a couple of Real Ale pubs. Strugglers Inn is well worth a visit. http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/12/12854/Strugglers_Inn/Lincoln
We stayed just one night in room 1. It was clean, had a sink in the room. The double bed was comfy - we slept well and the coffee/tea was a welcome addition. There is a clock radio too. The decor would not have been my choice (a bit flowery) and the ensuite loo/shower was a bit small (no bath). Room 1 is on the right of the front door so about 30 mins after we got in, we heard some other guests return but this was not late so it wasn't a problem. The road is quiet. The sausages were good but not as good as from my local Lincs. butcher :) These minor niggles stop me giving 5/5.
So if you want a reasonably priced room in a great location in uphill Lincoln, a decent breakfast, and a warm welcome, choose the Carline Guest House!
