We booked into the White Hart having found it on our satnav, at about 600pm and without the advice from TA. Very helpful duty manager and front desk staff, who helped us get our bags up to the room We were delighted with our room, which had a fantasic view of the East facade of the Cathedral lit in the winter chill. Very large and comfortable bed, good bathrooom.
We were able to park in the hotel's good parking area opposite, under cover and secure.
The bar is modern and glitzy which really doesn't quite fit in to the feeling of the Cathedral opposite the Castle, but there are some great pubs around and we had a nice pub meal and a couple of pints of Black Sheep nearby.
The hotel is only 3 minutes walk from the Cathedral and we went to Mattins at 7.30 am the following morning. Walking through the darkened Cathedral and watching the light gradually come in throught the massive West Window was magical. Excellent welcome from the Cathedral community and a lovely way to start the day. A reason in its own right to stay here.
Breakfast was good, nice choices, but the dining room is a little soulless, compared to some of the places around.
The bells do not ring from midnight to 7am, but are wonderful when they do!
By the way I know that most place spell Mattins with one 't', but this is the way they do it in Lincoln!!!
