“Great hotel, obsessed with quality.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

My wife and I stayed at this hotel as a birthday treat. However I was a bit concerned at some of the reviews.
We arrived and parked at the pre arranged space at nearby holiday inn and walked up to a secluded entrance, almost like a speak easy! The lift here then took us up to one of the best city centre lobbies that I have seen, even if the 180 view on the 4th floor was of Leicester!
Our room was spacious and my wife loved the furnishings and the big tv.
The receptionist was very friendly and recommended a few places to go that night, although I was keen to explore the restaurant.
We had a lovely 3 very fancy courses that were almost flawless apart from not enough of it! The wine list was great and the waitress very attentive. Following dinner we went to the bar with a fine array of everything. My favourite was a tom Collins with basil gin.
Overall we had a great time and were impressed with the evident effort that had been made to ensure everything we had was to a very high quality. Recommend.

“Amazing! - Best hotel I've stayed in by far!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed here for a few nights while i was on business in Leicester and it was one of the very best hotel experiences i've had! Checking in was breeze and the rooftop terrace is fab! (Shame about the rubbish English weather) There was SO much attention to detail they've even got handmade furniture! Love love loved the Cow Shed toiletries! The staff were so friendly and helpful!

Usually when travelling alone as much as I do I sometimes feel a bit intimidated walking into bars (because theyre normally full of corporate men) but when I went down to the restaurant for dinner, it wasn't like that at all! It was all so laid back and the food was delicious (even treated myself to a glass of house wine!) and again the staff were lovely!

Definitely staying here again next time i'm in Leicester, highly recommend! Thanks Maiyango!

“Tip top Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

As a frequent traveller for business and pleasure, I am always very appreciative when a friend gives me a hotel recommendation that pays off. This was definately the case with hotel Maiyango. So why is it such a find?

Location, couldn't be more central in Leicester city centre just a couple of hundred metres from the flashy Highcross shopping centre, which pleased my girlfriend greatly.

Staff, well presented and polite even when we arrived back past midnight.

Room, stylish and spacious, slept like a baby.

Food, the restaurant below is a real treat and the cocktails went down a little too well.

Keep up the good work Maiyangos, I'll be back!!!

“Sleek hotel - slightly slicker service needed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Stayed here for a party so was very handy. A little hard to find the entrance but once you get in you feel like you are in a slick little pocket of Leicester. Lovely attention to detail in rooms like yummy cowshed toiletries and soft slippers. Expected noise from outside as this is a city centre hotel but actually it was quiet. However a lot of noise from upstairs throughout the night and early morning! Understand the dim lighting in room but was a little too dim. Asked for an iron as was getting ready in a hurry but it took around half an hour. When checking out was asked by receptionist the cost of water from the mini bar which was a little bemusing. Also despite having agreed a late check-out we were called to ask why we hadn't left the room! Overall, modern rooms and would definitely recommend staying here above chain hotels but service just needs to be a little slicker though staff are friendly.

“Definately worth a second visit!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I stayed at Maiyango hotel for two nights in Jan. Upon first impressions thought it was a good central location though a bit quirky with reception on the third floor.

Reception staff were all very friendly, well presented and helpful. Check in was done very efficiently.

I stayed in Room 9 which was very spacious and comfortable.Despite the hotel being situated in the centre, i found i had a great sleep. Liked the choice of cowshed toiletries- very cool and fluffy towels. Felt like going from one home to another!
