Hmm, not as bad an experience as the first reviewer - but it isn't wonderful either.
We had one of the refurbished rooms and things were definitely nicer than the experiences described by the first review. The room was neutrally decorated and was spacious with a large bay window which made it feel airy. The laminate/wood flooring was good for my wife's hayfever, but it was a pity it had not been cleaned thoroughly (ie only swept and not moped). The rest of the room was clean and reasonably well presented with the usual hotel accessories (TV, kettle, etc.).
The front door had a key code so we did not experience any access problems
The breakfast experience with the large plasma TV and 80s MTV in the bar was not wonderful. The room is small so felt cramped and the staff a bit abrupt. We also had difficulty finding someone to settle our bill (they appeared to be busy with breakfast).
Overall we were glad that we were only staying for one night. It looks like they are trying to improve their image by refurbishing their rooms, but until they fix small problems, like the cleaning of the floor, their slightly unattentive customer service, etc. then I cannot say I recommend this place.
